Last Year’s Game:
The South Carolina Gamecocks mounted an astonishing second half comeback to shock the Michigan Wolverines
26-19 in the 2018 Outback Bowl. After a first half that saw both teams defenses dominate and four field goals
the only tallies on the scoreboard, the second half finally produced the offense everyone expected.
Michigan seemed in control after adding to their lead with 10 points in the 3rd period opening up a 19-3
lead with 5:42 left in the quarter, however the Gamecocks Rico Dowdle reached the endzone 3 minutes later
to close the gap to 10 points. From there the Wolverines would turn the ball over on three of their next four
possessions with the Gamecocks taking full advantage, including two Jake Bentley TD passes, to go on to score
23 unanswered points to secure the victory.
