Other Trivia:<br />
- The 1955 Gator Bowl was the first bowl to be televised coast-to-coast.<br />
- The 1994 Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech game was played at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium<br />
in Gainesville due to Gator Bowl renovations in Jacksonville. The Tennessee<br />
checkerboard was displayed on the University of Florida’s home turf.<br />
- Archie Manning played the 1971 Gator Bowl with a broken arm when Auburn beat<br />
Ole Miss 35-28<br />
- In 2001 Michael Vick played his final college game against Clemson and<br />
announced after the game he would be leaving Virginia Tech for the NFL.<br />
- Alabama and North Carolina played the last game in the old Gator Bowl in 1993<br />
before renovation for the new stadium, now called EverBank Field.<br />
