MY FIRST DAY
Waking up with mixed emotions as today
is the day I start my further education and
as I enter the life of a sixth form student.
Several thoughts are crossing my mind
as who knows what A Levels will entail
as this is the start of essentially the rest
of my life. The day is sunny with not a
cloud in the sky, as I enter the assembly
hall to take part in the ‘Welcome to sixth
form parade’ where I see a mixture of old
friends and new people who I have never
met, all people who I will start my sixth
form journey with. I was very nervous as I
entered the hall however I had a sense of
optimism as this is a new chapter
in my life.
The day started off extremely
well as I met loads of new people
who shared the same ambitions
and dreams as me which was
exhilarating.
People say sixth form is a tough challenge
and you have to be dedicated to work hard,
personally A Levels is the stepping stone
to the next chapter in my life however
upon exiting the assembly hall I thought
whether I was ready for the challenge,
I came to the quick conclusion that if I
tried my best and made myself proud
that was enough for me.

I also thought of those deciding between
going to sixth form and taking an
apprenticeship, and whether I’d made
the right choice. Everyone leads different
pathways, and they all lead to bright
futures. I decided sixth form was for me.
Furthermore, as I sat down in my new
form seeing all new faces, this is when the
nerves began to build and the realisation
of sixth form started. I was thrilled to begin
with but anxious to what was next.
As I met my new form members each
individual had a story to share and all of
our paths have connected, here, at sixth
form. My first day was a success as I had
matured a lot from the person who woke
up that morning as I started the new
chapter in my life and this was my chance
to work hard and show my dedication to
my school work and to my new life.
