Qualifications
A PhD in a relevant field is required. In
addition to experience supervising faculty
and curricula, candidates should have
demonstrated teaching excellence and an
interest in teaching in a diverse,
international setting. Familiarity with
examinations for certification of language
proficiency is desirable. Experience teaching
non-native speakers of English preferred,
but not required. This is a contract position
with the possibility of renewal.

Duke Kunshan University invites
applications for faculty positions in Chinese
language (Instructor/Lecturer/Senior
Lecturer) in its Language and Culture
Center. DKU offers an innovative and
interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts
program leading to both Duke and DKU
degrees. The Language and Culture Center
provides Chinese language courses at all
levels, ranging from beginning to advanced,
for international students in this program.
Positions start in July 2020.
All candidates must have a graduate degree
in a relevant field (e.g. Chinese language
teaching, foreign language education,
applied linguistics), and also university-level
language teaching experience. In addition to
mastery of spoken and written Chinese,
candidates should have strong English skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who
speak additional languages, have studied
intercultural communication, and/or have
experience working in multi-cultural
settings. Experience presenting at
workshops and conferences and/or writing
for publication is also an asset.
