The East Asian program in the School of<br />
International Letters and Cultures at Arizona<br />
State University is seeking a full-time, 9-<br />
month faculty member at the rank of<br />
Associate or Full Professor tenured in<br />
Chinese literature and culture, field and time<br />
period of research open. The successful<br />
candidate will contribute to curriculum<br />
development in Chinese language, literature,<br />
and culture; teach two courses per semester<br />
at the undergraduate and graduate level on<br />
the Tempe campus; supervise honors,<br />
masters and doctoral students; conduct<br />
research and publish in top-tier journals and<br />
presses; participate in professional and<br />

Required qualifications:<br />
•An earned doctorate in Chinese literature<br />
and culture, or a closely related field<br />
•Deep knowledge of Chinese literature and<br />
culture, based on a solid control of sources<br />
as demonstrated through close<br />
reading of written or visual text<br />
•Knowledge of current theoretical<br />
paradigms and research methodologies of<br />
the field<br />
•Commitment to interdisciplinary research<br />
•Quality record of published original and<br />
innovative research<br />
•Ability to use basic instructional<br />
technology (Canvas, Box, etc.)<br />
•Ability to teach content courses in Chinese<br />
Desired Qualifications:<br />
•Knowledge of either a second Asian or<br />
European language<br />
•Background in translation, translation<br />
studies, environmental humanities, or<br />
science studies<br />
•Ability to contribute to SILC-wide courses<br />
on literary and cultural theory<br />
•A commitment to cultivating and<br />
supporting a diverse faculty and student<br />
population<br />
