Auguste Bessac<br />
Auguste Bessac Côtes du Rhône pays tribute to the expertise and the know-how<br />
of the former cooper Auguste Bessac, one of the founding fathers of our wine<br />
house. At the beginning of the 20th century, he settled down in Châteauneufdu-Pape<br />
and quickly became a major player in the Papal life. In 1926, he started<br />
to produce, age wine and he built our cellar, which was one of the biggest of<br />
the region at the time, and still is nowadays! On the label you find his initials as<br />
they were once engraved on the barrels. Produced from a rigorous selection of<br />
the best parcels of the appellation, this warm wine is a perfect example of the<br />
richness of the Rhône Valley terroir. The nose is complex with a predominance<br />
of cooked red fruits and notes of liquorice typical of the appellations of the<br />
South Rhône Valley vineyards. The flavour is well-balanced between roundness,<br />
vivacity and structure with pleasant finish on silky tannins. Enjoy with meat,<br />
casseroles and cheese.<br />
