Around the world, the majority of all<br />

goods are transported by trucks. According<br />

to a study by Roland Berger, freight<br />

transportation makes up 70 percent of all<br />

transportation in Europe and the United<br />

States, and 75 percent of transportation<br />

in China. Despite the significance<br />

of the transportation industry, many<br />

companies within it are working inefficiently,<br />

for example as a result of unnecessary,<br />

empty runs. The problem?<br />

Free loading space and cargo do not<br />

always coincide. As a result, companies<br />

are unable to exploit their full potential<br />

while continuing to incur high costs for<br />

operating their vehicle fleets. One of the<br />

solutions to this problem is to use digital<br />

applications: “Digital services do make<br />

our customers’ businesses considerably<br />

more efficient and help them to realize<br />

higher margins. The flipside, however,<br />

is that they are more complex, which<br />

causes problems for a lot of our customers,”<br />

explains Joachim Drees, Chief<br />

Executive Officer of MAN Truck & Bus.<br />

“Sustainability is another issue of crucial<br />

importance. Lawmakers are calling for<br />
