SYMRISE: INTO THE FUTURE

Sustainability paired with profitability
all along the value chain
Symrise, a manufacturer of fragrances
and flavors, cosmetic active ingredients,
and raw materials as well as ingredients
for food, lives its company strategy –
from the origins of its raw materials to
the final products for its customers. In
its sustainability reporting, the company
complies with the guidelines of
the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
described in the GRI Standards from
2016, including the most recent update
of selected indicators from 2018. At the
same time – and as an active participant
in the UN Global Compact – Symrise
adheres to its universal principles for
responsible corporate management as
well as to the UN Sustainable Development
Goals.
The 17 SDGs form important cornerstones
of the company’s approach to
sustainability. The SDGs shall help the
world achieve greater sustainability by
2030 – economically, environmentally,
and socially. In 2015, the UN member
states adopted this in their 2030 Agenda
for Sustainable Development.
Materiality matrix shows the SDGs
most relevant to Symrise
Symrise uses the materiality matrix to
constantly check which SDGs bear the
most relevance for the company and its
stakeholders, and where the company
can make the biggest contribution with
its business activities. Based on the results,
Symrise developed a materiality
matrix with topic clusters.
