one, two, three or four rings – depending on
the necessary power output. In addition, each
ring consists of three segments. The modular
design also brings benefits in day-to-day
operations. In the case of a DDD with three
rings, for example, the ropeway can continue
to run with 89% of its nominal torque in the
event that one segment should fail on one of
the rings. High availability is guaranteed at
all times as a result. Individual rings or other
subcomponents can be replaced outside of
operating hours – should the need arise. The
use of highly developed industrial components
also means that the availability of spare parts
is guaranteed worldwide.
When it comes to installation, the modular
design of the DDD again pays off: All components
– the heaviest being the stator at
2.75 tons – can be transported to the station
by helicopter and permit straightforward and
rapid assembly. This is a great advantage as
the top stations of ropeway installations are
frequently positioned in exposed mountain
locations with no means of access for trucks.
Integrated with Doppelmayr Connect
The DDD is used on many D-Line installations
from Doppelmayr/Garaventa. Information on
motor temperature, speed and torque are
clearly displayed on the ropeway control system
Doppelmayr Connect – giving the ropeway
operative the best possible overview of key
drive parameters at all times.
