Turning a challenge
into an opportunity
2020 has been marked by an experience that will go down in the history books:
a pandemic of global proportions that concerns us all and affects our lives in different ways.
The Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group and every individual employee have had their very own
experiences in this exceptional period. Here we provide a brief status report.
We are learning every day and trying
to see these challenges as an opportunity.
And there were a significant
number of them over the past few months.
A virus that rapidly spread around the world
and has changed many things. In the area of
digitalization alone, we – like so many other
companies – have seen processes accelerate.
The IT departments in our Group have done
a fantastic job in setting up a large number of
workplaces to operate as home offices, providing
the required server capacity and enabling
our systems to run smoothly. This went
hand in hand with the further expansion of our
communications options with digital programs.
Thanks to the determination to implement all
this as quickly as possible, it was possible
right from the outset to continue working rapidly,
flexibly and efficiently with colleagues,
partners and customers around the globe on
a remote basis.
The experiences of our colleagues at
Doppelmayr China in January and also at
Doppelmayr Italy were a contributing factor
in enabling us to adapt to the mandatory
Covid-19 regulations at an early stage. We set
the necessary measures in motion and even
implemented them before they were first
recommended and subsequently mandated
by governments.
