Katharina Schmitz takes the helm<br />
at Doppelmayr USA<br />
Katharina Schmitz is the new president of<br />
Doppelmayr USA, Inc. and the successor to<br />
Mark Bee. She started at Doppelmayr USA<br />
as Vice President Project Management in<br />
2018 and was promoted to Vice President<br />
of Operations with responsibility for production,<br />
logistics and construction in early<br />
2019. The native Austrian and passionate<br />
skier has been living in the US since 2005.<br />
She spent three years working in the automotive<br />
industry and ten years in the aircraft<br />
industry, and holds degrees in engineering<br />
management and international economics.<br />
Mark Bee, who remains a member of the<br />
board of directors of the Doppelmayr units<br />
in North America, took up his well-earned<br />
retirement in March 2<strong>02</strong>0 after 30 years in<br />
the ropeway industry. He joined Von Roll<br />
Tramways in 1989 and was appointed<br />
president of Doppelmayr USA on January 1,<br />
1998. During his 30-year career, Mark Bee<br />
was involved in over 400 new ropeway installations<br />
across North America. The merger<br />
of the three companies Doppelmayr USA,<br />
Garaventa CTEC and Von Roll Tramways<br />
in 20<strong>02</strong> also took place under his management.<br />
The Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group<br />
