Katharina Schmitz takes the helm
at Doppelmayr USA
Katharina Schmitz is the new president of
Doppelmayr USA, Inc. and the successor to
Mark Bee. She started at Doppelmayr USA
as Vice President Project Management in
2018 and was promoted to Vice President
of Operations with responsibility for production,
logistics and construction in early
2019. The native Austrian and passionate
skier has been living in the US since 2005.
She spent three years working in the automotive
industry and ten years in the aircraft
industry, and holds degrees in engineering
management and international economics.
Mark Bee, who remains a member of the
board of directors of the Doppelmayr units
in North America, took up his well-earned
retirement in March 2020 after 30 years in
the ropeway industry. He joined Von Roll
Tramways in 1989 and was appointed
president of Doppelmayr USA on January 1,
1998. During his 30-year career, Mark Bee
was involved in over 400 new ropeway installations
across North America. The merger
of the three companies Doppelmayr USA,
Garaventa CTEC and Von Roll Tramways
in 2002 also took place under his management.
The Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group
