Tate Online’s RSS Feeds<br />

Figure 9 shows the RSS feeds <strong>of</strong>fered by Tate Online in 2007. Users can<br />

subscribe to three categories <strong>of</strong> feeds, according to their interests. In the first<br />

category users are informed about news at a daily, weekly or monthly basis.<br />

Secondly, users can choose to subscribe to different type <strong>of</strong> activities such as e.g.<br />

exhibitions or symposia & events. The third category is addressed to target<br />

groups, such as families or teachers.<br />

One can only imagine how many news items Tate Online produces in a month’s<br />

time. Taking into account how overloaded with unsolicited bulk messages and<br />

commercial newsletters most peoples’ email accounts are, it becomes clear how<br />

useful it is to order news content in this way. It allows users to select only those<br />

items, which are <strong>of</strong> interest to them.<br />
