The properties of these corrientes are dependent on the actions, manner<br />
of being, and perceptions of the spirit emitting the light. Because they are<br />
made up of the universal fluid, which takes on the properties of whatever it<br />
encompasses, they take on the qualities of the thoughts, emotions, and<br />
energies they carry. There are many ways that these qualities are expressed<br />
in <strong>Espiritismo</strong>. The light can be beautiful, dim, bright, strong, weak, or<br />
dark.<br />
The energy emitted in these currents creates a magnetic force field<br />
known as the aura (see chapter 10). The aura acts like a magnet that attracts<br />
energies and spirits that are like itself, and concurrently repels energies that<br />
are opposite to it. Since an individual's aura is made up of that person's<br />
currents, the aura has a base level, but also contains various levels that are<br />
continually changing and that are affected by the state of being of the spirit<br />
to whom it belongs.<br />
INTERACTION AND COMMUNICATION<br />
Since all realms essentially exist at the same time and place, spirits and<br />
humans constantly affect one another, whether they realize it or not. All<br />
beings are affected by energy currents, seen or unseen, and they, in turn,<br />
affect the currents. Whenever you feel “bad vibes” or “good vibes”—or any<br />
kind of energy for that matter—what you are feeling are these currents. And<br />
just as the eyes can not perceive all colors, so some currents can be<br />
perceived while others cannot.<br />
Since we are all spirits, we can and do communicate regularly with<br />
other spirits. For the vast majority, this happens unconsciously, but we are<br />
all born with spiritual senses, just as we are born with physical senses. It's<br />
just that most people have not developed these senses enough to be aware<br />
of the actions of the spirits around them.<br />
The qualities of a spirit's corrientes, and therefore its aura, exert a<br />
magnetic attraction toward those beings who share its qualities. Clean clear<br />
currents thus attract clean, clear, and pure spirits. Dark lights attract impure<br />
spirits. Each person's currents attract spirits who share the same nature or<br />
energy as that person's aura.<br />
