Just three tiny specks of luscious green in a turquoise blue sea off the coast of Lombok Island: the
Gili archipelago is small but full of adventure.
Gili Trawangan
The biggest of the three islands, “Gili T”, is still only 15 km².
Famous for being a real party island, there are plenty of
restaurants, bars, and even night markets to keep you
occupied. Popular with backpackers, Gili T is the busiest
and most developed Gili island, but you can still relax
because there isn’t a car or scooter in sight.
Gili Air
If Gili T is too busy and Gili Meno is too quiet for your liking,
then Gili Air is just right. It’s laid back but still has plenty
to do, like snorkelling or getting an indulgent massage.
With arguably the best white sand beaches of all three
islands, there’s good reason why this place is known as
the “Maldives of Indonesia”.
Gili Meno
From the biggest island to the smallest, Gili Meno is a
postage stamp of an island but with a huge spirit and the
real feel of a remote, tropical island. If you want to avoid
the crowds that flock to Gili Trawangan, this is the ideal
island for your next trip.
The best way to take in Gili Meno is with a walk along the
beach. Don’t worry if you’re not much of a hiker, though,
since circling the entire island only takes a couple of
hours. Find yourself a quiet spot, kick back on a beachside
hammock, and feel the stress leave your body.
