Unfortunately he was assassinated on April 4 th , 1968. I admired
King for his perseverance, courage and patriotism. He was indeed
one of my heroes and idols.
The Education and Careers of Our Children
Angela and Paulo attended Bristol Public Elementary Schools.
Angela went to Bristol High School for a couple of years and then
transferred to Fátima High School in Warren because many of her
friends went there. Paulo attended Bishop Connolly High School
in Fall River, MA. They were both very good students and
graduated with honors.
Angela went on to Rhode Island College in Providence, a very
good State school, where she spent four years, from 1981 to 1985,
graduating with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, Communications & Public
Relations and a minor in Management. She graduated Cum Laude,
Dean's List, Cooperative Education Honors, and with a
Management Skills Certificate. She went to Rhode Island College,
primarily because Arthur Cabral, her high school sweetheart, was
attending the same school. While at school, she spent two years in
an internship as Marketing and Administrative Assistant at IBM
Corporation in Providence, Rhode Island.
After graduation, her first job was as a Marketing and
Administrative Assistant for Systemetrics, Inc. in Providence, RI.
That went on from 1985 to 1987, and then, from 1987 to 1998, she
worked as Co-manager for the Travelers Insurance Company of
Massachusetts in the automobile and homeowners insurance
claims department with a staff of 89 employees.
In 1998, I had planned to retire in 2000 from our travel agency. I
spoke to Angela to see if she were interested in continuing the
family business. Immediately, she agreed and I gave her the entire
