MIND MASTERY Becoming An Author (Part 2) By Grandmaster Jessie Bowen In part one of the Become An Author for Martial Artists, we discuss the decision-making process. In this article, we will be working on getting started. Now that you have decided to write your book, you need to consider your audience. Just because you publish your book doesn’t make it successful if you’re trying to monetize it. This is why the decision, whether your book is written just for your own pleasure, benefits your family, friends, and students. Some have a deeply personal story to share. Will you be discussing something more specialized, such as gold setting, financial growth, or athletic performance? First, you must choose a topic for your book. I’ll go over all three reasons you would want to become an author. The first is because you’ve always wanted to do something special for your family, friends, or students. Your legacy is the tale of your life, upbringing, activities, family members, and friends who grew up with you. Although this is an autobiography, your book can be written like a personal family reunion, bringing together distant relatives whom your children will never meet. But nothing sells until you get the word out, so you’ll need to put in the extra effort. Begin with the end in mind: how much money do you want to make from your book sales?
