Welcome to Jönköping 2025!
Photos: Destination Jonköping.
Along the southern shores of Vättern stretches
Småland’s biggest city. This is where town meets country
in perfect harmony. Whether you’re born and raised here
or this is your very first visit, there’s a lot to experience
here. This region is a paradise for nature lovers, with one
of Sweden’s largest oak forests, nature reserves, walking
routes, refreshing dips in the crystal clear waters of
Vättern, wide open views and charming country lanes to
cycle along. Wherever you find yourself in the city, the
countryside is always close. Welcome to Jönköping!
Jönköping invites you to a first class O-Ringen City. Located at
Rosenlund next to Elmia exhibition centre and with stunning
views across Vättern, we are please to offer a compact and central
concept, with O-Ringen Square and the campsite side by side.
There are bathing areas within walking distance: an indoor adventure
pool and Vättern outdoors. An obstacle course, bowling,
skatepark and padel are just a few of the other activities available
within a kilometre of O-Ringen City.
A city full of life
Jönköping has an international college and 140,000 inhabitants,
and is buzzing with life all year round. The city centre has
picturesque avenues and canals which open out onto three lakes:
Vättern, Munksjön and Rocksjön. If you want to wander round
the old town, explore local shops or enjoy good food and drink,
the Matchstick area (Tändsticksområdet) is the place for you. The
whole area is classed as a listed building and has a long history,
which you can experience especially at the Match Museum.
Proximity to nature is another major advantage of our destination.
With its soft paths, beautiful views, John Bauer forests, wide
marshlands, lakes and hillsides, the southern Vättern area is the
perfect place to explore.
The shores of Vättern
Right in the middle of Jönköping you’ll find Vätterstranden, a
beach and bathing area with a seaside feel and fantastic views.
From O-Ringen City you can follow the cycleway for a few
kilometres along Vättern, into the centre of Jönköping, where
shopping, culture and a wide variety of restaurants await. With its
whole kilometre of shoreline, Vätternstranden has room for everyone,
as well as clean and clear water and a sandy beach. If it’s too
cold for a dip in the lake, there are lawns, activities and restaurants
nearby. Why not play volleyball on one of the beach volleyball
pitches, have a play at the playground or ride along the beautiful
path by the lake, enjoying the views by bike. If you cycle a couple of
kilometres in the opposite direction you’ll get to Huskvarna, where
among other things you can visit Husqvarna Factory Museum,
have coffee and cake at Brunstorps Gård and go on to Äppledalen,
known as “Småland’s answer to Tuscany”, with its local food entrepreneurs
and attractions.
Cycling in Jönköping
All around Jönköping you can find everything from beautiful
country lanes to challenging hills and endless gravel rides.
Whether you’re looking to really dig in up a hill or enjoy a gentle
outing on gravel, we have something for you. There’s a wealth of
places to discover. At Huskvarnaberget nature reserve, with its
beautiful views over Huskvarna and Jönköping, you can find the
popular mountain bike arena at IKHP, which offers flowing tracks,
drops and some challenging climbs up the slalom hill. There’s the
EuroMTB 2016 track and many others to test. Hallbystugan, just
to the west of Jönköping, is well-known among mountain bikers.
Here you will find tracks for all ages and abilities. Don’t miss their
pump track! At Gränna you can cycle on looping trails as well as
try out the exciting enduro tracks up on Grännaberget. Both IKHP
and Hallbystugan will be visited by everyone competing in MTBO
at O-Ringen.
