Welcome to Gothenburg 2026
Come to Gothenburg for world class sport
– find a delicious reason to stay!
show jumping competition. Take your place in
the stands and enjoy world class dressage and
show jumping.
Poppels City Brewery
Poppels City Brewery is a unique food and
beer experience in one of Gothenburg’s most
exciting neighbourhoods. At the newly built
Platinan at Hisingsbron you’ll find the world’s
largest oak barrel pilsner brewery and a restaurant
with room for over 170 guests. The restaurant
is working towards circular solutions, with
a menu built around sustainability, plant-based
food and bread.
It’s almost 20 years since Gothenburg last hosted O-Ringen
and in 2026 it’s time for it to return!
No fewer than 17 Gothenburg clubs are joining forces to organise
O-Ringen 2026. From the big clubs like Göteborg-Majorna OK,
IFK Göteborg and Sävedalens AIK, to smaller ones such as IK
Stern, IK Marin Väst and many others.
In recent years, Gothenburg has built up a wealth of experience
in organising big orienteering events, including the Junior World
Championships, World Masters Championships, Swedish Championships,
10-MILA and most recently the Swedish Sprint Championships
in 2022. We are taking all this valuable experience into our
O-Ringen preparations.
Our own local experience combined with the collective experience
of the O-Ringen team is a winning formula for a successful
O-Ringen 2026.
O-Ringen City will be at Stora Holm, Hisingen, a rural idyll only a short
distance away from each competition stage and the buzz of the city.
Stora Holm is normally a training facility for drivers and includes a
skidpan, but for one week it will be transformed into O-Ringen City,
with room for 2000 camping pitches. It will be a compact O-Ringen
City, close to restaurants, O-Ringen Square and other facilities.
There is also a good electricity supply, which means we will be
able to supply many camping pitches with electricity.
O-Ringen 2026 will offer exciting competition areas, with a
very Gothenburg feel, for both Orienteering, MTBO and Trail-O
classes. Work is underway this autumn to find the areas that can
provide the perfect challenge for everyone. We are hoping to be
able to offer a stage featuring classic coastal terrain.
There will be around 1200 of us Gothenburgers in orange T-shirts,
doing all we can to make sure you have a fantastic overall experience.
A warm welcome to Gothenburg!
