The magic of Christmas
descends on Villa de Moya
The cobbled streets and picturesque corners of Villa
de Moya are glinting under the magical Christmas
lights, kicking off a festive season that promises
to be a delight for residents and visitors alike.
The Town Hall has put together an extensive programme
of events and activities, creating a warm
and festive atmosphere that invites everyone to
come together and share some memorable moments.
The eagerly-awaited switching on of the Christmas
lights, an event that has become a tradition in the
town, took place in the emblematic portico of the
church of Our Lady of Candelaria. For the occasion,
the stage was transformed into a canvas where the
talented theatre students of the Municipal Artistic
Schools sparked life into a show full of charm and
emotion. After the lighting ceremony, festive music
blasted out courtesy of a vibrant concert by Señor
Natilla, followed by a captivating audio-visual water
screen show in the idyllic setting of Pico Lomito
Park.
Christmas this year will also offer a feast for the
palate on Calle León y Castillo, the setting for Gastronomic
Christmas celebrations. The tempting
aromas and exquisite flavours of the local culinary
offerings will all mingle together in an event that
seeks not only to nourish the body but also feed
the festive community spirit.
The Christmas calendar in Moya is packed full of
events catering for all tastes and ages. These range
from creative workshops for the youngsters to the
traditional lunch for the elderly in Fontanales, so
every corner of the municipality is impregnated
with the Christmas spirit. On 16th December, the
10th annual Moya Dulce Race, a popular charity
running event, will be a special moment that will
unite the community for a noble cause. Likewise,
the Villa de Moya Christmas Craft and Commercial
Fair will transform calle Miguel Hernández into a
bustling market full of unique products and handicrafts.
Children will be treated to some magical moments
as they deliver their letters to Father Christmas in
the cosy surroundings of the Municipal Sports Centre.
The Villa de Moya Christmas Fair will continue
with activities specially designed for children, together
with a delightful concert by the Cumbres
y Costas Music Band in the picturesque municipal
amphitheatre.
The traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations will
continue in style with a day full of activities starting
at 12.00 noon. Entertainment is provided by DJ
Ulises, together with live shows by Que Chimba,
Los Coquillos, Los 600 and the spectacular countdown
starting at 19.00. Villa de Moya will offer its
inhabitants and visitors a joyful and musical New
Year’s Eve, with Aseres rounding off the night with
a performance that will see in the New Year with
positive energy.
The magic will continue into the new year with children's
shows and baking workshops that will take
the local community into their most magical night
of the year on January 5th: the arrival of the Three
Wise Men from the East. The cavalcade will start
from the picturesque Paseo Doramas and will run
along the main street to the portico of the church,
and promises to be a bright and colourful parade.
Accompanied by a lively circus parade, Disney
characters and the vibrant music of the Banda Isleña,
the Three Wise Men will greet all the children
in the portico of the church, creating a unique and
unforgettable moment for them.
Villa de Moya immerses itself completely in Christmas,
extending a warm invitation to one and all to
revel in the magic and joy that this special season
brings with it. May the magic of Christmas light up
every heart in the Villa de Moya!
