Studbook News - Trakehners UK On the international stage the great Trakehner mare Dalera TSF continues her incredible career having taking the World Cup title in April, winning the Kur at Aachen following on from their German National title in June. She followed up these successes with the European title in September to confirm her status as the best dressage horse in the world. Sadly her sire Easy Game passed away in the Summer, leaving a huge legacy behind him as not only the sire of Dalera , but also the Olympic competitor Hermes and the super sire Millennium. The new Austrian eventing champion and 3 star winner was licensed stallion Lebenstraum (Abendtanz x Heops) and Lea Siegl. At Burghley American rider Boyd Martin and his fantastic campaigner Tsetserleg TSF (Windfall x Buddenbrock) competed a top ten finish, with a few expensive show jumping poles dropping them down from 5th after a brilliant cross country round. In the UK we also lost an important stallion with the ex Grand Prix and international Para stallion Woodcroft Garuda K having been lost at the age of 22. The Munchhausen son was known for his great temperament and we believe there is still frozen semen available. Domestically Oxfordshire based Godington Stud’s homebred stallion Godington Utah (Contis x Roland) completed his BD Regional qualification at Elementary with a win at Cherwell, having recently teamed up with rider Steph Graves. Godington Okavango (EH G.Hannibal/ EH King Arthur) achieved a top ten placing in the very competitive Horse Events Young Horse Championship at Dauntsey Park last month and more recently winning the Aston Le Walls Eventers Challenge. Premium Mares Godington Balenciaga (Herzensdieb/ EH G.Hannibal) and Godington Burundi (EH Helium/ EH.G Hannibal) have started their BD careers with wins and placings at their first affiliated competition at Addington Manor. Ex eventer Godington Trasimeno (EH G.Hanibal x Maestro) has also made the switch to dressage and is now winning at Medium with Lucy Jackson. Godington Tancredi (Contis x Maestro) have had a number of wins at BD Prelim and Novice this Summer and Autumn. The late E.H Easy Game. Image - SophE Photography Georgie Guest had a good BD Winter Nationals on Donaustern (Abendtanz x Hohenstein) having qualified for both the Advanced Medium and AM Freestyle. Rob Barker and Herbstrot (All Inclusive x Insterberg) also took a top ten placing in the Advanced Medium Gold at the Winter Nationals and recently were back out winning at PSG. Donaustern has since moved up to PSG and Herbstrot was Regional Champion at the level in August qualifying her for the Nationals. The Trakehner has always been a massive influence on other studbooks and their part bred offspring have been doing very well in sport and proving a popular choice for breeders. Of course Badmington winner and European Champion eventer Lordships Graffalo is a son of Trakehner stallion Grafenstolz TSF who we expect to be the leading sire of eventers in the world when the final results are published. Pammy Hutton’s mare Honeybrooke Extra Special (bred by Lyn Phillips) is a daughter of the Elite Foal Show purchase Eilun Feer by Karolinger and is combining success at 4 star eventing and PSG dressage. The eye catching mare is attracting a big fan club and we hope her Trakehner heritage can be appreciated. Samantha Skinner reports she is gaining great experience on Bluewood Tornado, a part bred by Trocadero, recently attending the Petplan Nationals at Advanced Medium after a runner up place at Regionals. The pair are also winning at PSG. Claire Acherman de Preez has registered her part bred Woodcroft Heinrich, a grandson of the great Hohenstein. At the recent BD Middle Tour Championships they were reserve champion after taking 2nd in the Intermediate AB Silver Freestyle and in the Inter II. They also had excellent placings at Inter I. We hope to see more purebred foals born in 2024 and Nicola Joost reports her Keatinge Firefly is expecting a purebred foal next year. Godington Stud are expecting two Contis offspring from Pamina and EM Offerte. Katariina Luomanen had a purebred filly this year by Craig out of the Russian influenced mare Ibiza.
