Futurity - SNEC 17th August
For the second year running, the British
Breeding Baileys Horse Feeds Scottish
Futurity venue was the Scottish National
Equestrian Centre which is proving to
be a popular location for our breeders.
We hope this Futurity event will continue
to grow to allow us to keep offering the
opportunity of a physical evaluation to
our breeders in Scotland.
The highest score of the day across all
ages and disciplines was achieved by
Berlinneke Z who is by Ecclestone Z out
of an Azzurro mare. This lovely colt foal
bred for showjumping achieved a great
Premium Gold score of 8.88.
Berlinneke Z
Breeder Michelle Warnock explains:
“Berlinneke’s mother Harlinneke (Azzuro
x Metall) is a mare that I competed
successfully in British Showjumping up to
1.30m. Her mother Tarlinneke was bred
by Jan Lutke Willink at the Linneke stud in
Holland.
Berlinneke’s sire Ecclestone Z (Escape
Z/Cassini II) is a grandson of the
Legendary Emerald.
Ecclestone Z was National Showjumping
champion with Danielle Ryder in 2022.
We hope to compete Berlinneke in
young horse Showjumping classes as a
4-5-year-old.”
Florie
The highest scoring dressage foal with
a Gold Premium of 8.55 was Florie by
Johnnie Walker VDL out of an Amoureux
mare. Her breeder Ferne Fairfull is
delighted with the result:
“Florie is out of my wonderful mare Ziva
(Amoureva Z) whom I have owned from
2 years old. She is by Amoureux out
of an Argus mare, old school dressage
breeding. Together we competed in BD
with lots of fun days out at BS and BE.
Ziva is my horse of a lifetime and it has
always been a dream to breed from her,
she has a fantastic attitude to life.
“I originally aimed to put Ziva in foal to
the young and upcoming dressage stallion
Iron based with Helgstrand dressage
however on the first attempt the courier
was 3 days late, on the 2nd attempt
the courier was late again and by the
3rd attempt they decided to close their
breeding season early!
Feeling deflated my non horsey partner
suggested one of the stallions standing
at Drumcarrow equestrian as that is
where she was being AI'd. Whilst Ziva
was there I would regularly go and see
Johnnie Walker VDL. I loved his cheeky
personality and look at me wow factor.
Despite being a showjumper he has
lovely paces and a lovely active hind
end so I decided to give it a go and 4
weeks later Ziva had a healthy heartbeat
scan! Johnnie has since gone from
strength to strength and is competing up
to 1m60 with Michael Whitaker.
“Ziva birthed Florie in the beautiful
sunshine out in the field, and within 35
minutes she was up standing and drinking,
it’s like she has been here before,
she has a beautiful nature and she is a
keeper. I plan to potter about over the
next few years with her and de-sensitise
her to life just like I did with her mum who
takes everything in her stride. Then I plan
to take her through the levels at BD and
see where we end up whilst having fun
on the side doing some jumping to give
her a variety.”
Staying with the discipline of dressage,
we move on to the highest scorer among
the yearlings, Florian von Faustinus who
is by Faustinus out of a Don Olymbrio
mare. He achieved a Gold score of 8.2.

Owner Emma-Louise Johnston explains:
“‘Gabriel’ was purchased as a weanling
Florian von Faustinus
and has since been running in the field
with other horses. He has a fantastic laid
back nature and loves people. He won
the yearling sports horse class and then
took sports horse champion at this year's
Royal Highland Show as his only other
outing of the season. The plan with him is
to keep him entire to add to our other 2
stallions and to produce him for
dressage ourselves with a view of
competing in the age classes.”
The highest scoring 2yo entry of the day
was for showjumping in Ultimo Locura
by Lansdowne out of a Phanten mare
who was awarded a Gold score of 8.

Says breeder Janice Pilkington:
“‘Josie’ is 3rd generation breeding from
my original competition mare. She has
a 6-year-old half-brother by Zapatero
who is successfully out jumping with
David Harland. He’s a very big horse, in
every way your traditional big
warmblood showjumper!
“I was looking for a stallion to give a
more modern athletic stamp and went
for Lansdowne whose pedigree fitted the
bill! Josie actually has a full older sister
Lily who we were so pleased with we
decided to use Lansdowne again. Josie’s
dam Phantens Buck’s Fizz is by the
relatively unknown stallion Phanten but
his sire is the very well known Concorde.
“I’m hoping Josie will progress through
the age classes with David Harland and
hopefully have a bright future ahead of
her!”
The highest scoring 3yo across all
disciplines was the dressage bred
Adelphi who is by Rembrandt DDH out
of a Goodtimes mare, thus carrying
horse and pony genes.
Breeder Li-Anna Tan explains:
“My family hoped to breed a compact,
small, intelligent horse and we have
been pleased with her development so
far. Willingness and talent to compete
at higher levels of dressage was
important to us, alongside trainability
and easiness Millard of KMD stud.
