Futurity Report - Catherston Stud
Sian Harman of Hill View Stud is
delighted with her foal:
Silver Glitter
“I am very proud of her. She is a
wonderful bold filly. From the moment
she was born knew she was something
superior. She has a super character
inherited from the dam and sire! I hope
to find her a new home in the
showjumping discipline although she
would be also suitable to dressage with
her paces being so good.”
The top scorer among the dressage foals
was Fabiella, bred by Ian McRobbie
and presented by Ruth Hole. This lovely
daughter of Fidertanz out of a Utopia
mare achieved an excellent Gold
Premium of 8.85.
Says Ruth:
Fabiella
“She’s such a super little girl and
beautiful in every way! Her breeder also
bred and owns her dam, Ulyssa who
competed internationally and was
training GP before taking a break to
have a foal, so we are hoping that
Fabiella will be a future Grand Prix horse
too! It’s a long way to go from foal to
GP, but with looks and moves like she
has, it’s very exciting!”
The highest scoring pony foal was Henza
Double Trouble, bred by Diane Kilshaw
from her own stallion Dark Knight out of
a Parvadean Recharge mare. He scored
a very good Gold Premium of 8.65.
Henza Double Trouble
Diane tells us more:
“I bought his dam, Welsh section C
Ormond Rosa, as a weanling foal
having been impressed with her as she
won her class at the Hay on Wye show
before the annual Welsh Pony sale. The
auctioneer described her as
“charismatic” and this trait has
certainly passed on to Double Trouble.
The Futurity evaluators were impressed
with his “look at me” attitude and yet he
was beautifully behaved throughout.
Double Trouble is by my own German
Riding Pony stallion, Dark Knight by
Dressman, who consistently adds quality,
length of leg, and a great hind leg to the
sturdy native mare. He’s the third foal of
this pairing, the first Henza Rosa Bella
also achieving Gold Premium at her
Futurity as a foal. They’re like peas in a
pod! I have the fourth foal from this
pairing due in 2024.
Both dam and sire have excellent
bloodlines with highly respected
damlines in their respective breeds, so
the aim is to keep him as a stallion with
the hope he’ll make a 148cm dressage
pony with the quality to be a breeding
stallion also.”
The top scoring 2-year-old across all
ages was the eventing filly Lady
Moonfly bred by Dawn Cameron by
her own bred stallion Sir Mayfly out of
a Conthargos mare. She gained a Gold
Premium of 8.5.
Lady Moonfly
Dawn is very proud of this achievement:
“Lady Moonfly is an elegant, free
moving, beautifully formed two-yearold
filly with excellent dressage, show
jumping and eventing lines. She forms
a harmonious overall impression, strong
stamp, self-carriage and supple body.
Like both her sire and dam, she has a
wonderful calm and confident
disposition and an extremely trainable
attitude.
“Lady Moonfly has 56.41% Blood. Her
sire has an amazing can do attitude to
work and loves an adventure, always
giving 100%, competing very
successfully last year as a 5-year-old in
BE100 classes and qualifying for the PC
Eventing Championships 2022. Her dam
Uniform Contender is homebred and has
an amazing attitude to work with
exceptional paces and jumping
technique.
