dressage career in the future.
The highest scoring eventing foal was
Milestone Star by Future Gravitas out of
a daughter of MySpires Revolution. He
gained a Gold Premium of 8.55.
Easton College was a new venue for
the British Breeding Baileys Horse Feeds
Futurity this year, and it was great to see
very high quality entries and brilliant
results.
The two joint highest scoring entries
gaining the accolade of Futurity Elite
with equal scores of 9 were both bred
for dressage.
Verbena CS is a yearling filly by
Vivaldos out of a Woodlander Wild
Child mare.
Sandhole Royal Flush
Her breeder Julia Wilkinson tells us
more: “I bought Verbena’s mother as a
foal. I loved her feminine type, beautiful
conformation and 3 excellent paces.
She is a grand daughter (through her sire
Woodlander Wild Child) of the great
Woodlander Farouche who is the horse
that inspired my interest in breeding.
I picked Vivaldos to match with
Verbena’s dam as he too had beautiful
conformation, I also saw him live in
Germany, he has a sweet nature and,
for me, is the ideal sport horse. I’m really
delighted with Verbena CS’ Elite score.
She has always been a star from day
one and I hope to see her on the
International stage one day.
“Here at Chadwells Stud we pride
ourselves on breeding carefully
for longevity, rideability and talent.
We hope to see our horses enjoyed for
many years by both amateur and
professional riders alike.”
I Caesar is a dressage pony foal by
Totillah out of a Caesar mare.
His breeder is Elly Darling:
“We are still on cloud nine! I thought
he was special from the minute he was
born, but had convinced myself I was
being a rather biased mum and
maybe he was actually just a very nice
but average foal... so to hear the words
and marks from the judges at Easton, it
was a mixture of shock and relief that
actually I had been right all along!
We named him after his grandsire
Caesar as he passed away recently and
I hoped that our colt, Bart, would be
exceptional enough to pull off the name.
It's fantastic to be told I was right.
We plan on running him on as a future
stallion, we hope he will make around
15.2 and will fill a real niche in the dressage
stallion market.”
Totillah also sired the highest scoring
dressage foal of the day in Toto’s
Designer Lady out of a Tango mare who
gained an impressive Gold Premium of
8.8
Caesar I
Her breeder Kim Cosgrave had quite the
surprise at the arrival of a lovely filly:
“Toto’s Designer Lady otherwise known
as Coco, was an absolute dream come
true this year and a suprise filly after
being sex scanned a colt, 3 years of
breeding with my amazing mare she had
a colt every time. She has the sweetest
temperament with the right amount of
presence and ‘look at me’ factor, bred
with some of the best dressage lines you
Toto Designer Lady
We caught up with his breeder Lynsey
Tyte: “We are delighted that our first
homebred Milestone Star, known as
Milo at home, achieved the top eventing
foal score at the Easton College
Futurities. His dam MySpires Another
Star, had a successful in-hand career,
and became a top scoring eventing filly
herself as a 3yr old in the Futurities and
then went on to become Reserve
4-year-old BEYH Champion in 2017.
She is a much loved family member with
a very kind nature.
“His sire Future Gravitas (who is by
Grafenstolz and therefore related to the
Badminton and European 2023 winner
Lordships Gruffalo) has also had a
successful eventing and more
recently dressage career and passed on
his excellent conformation and
temperament to Milo. This was very
important to us as we wanted to breed
a horse for my daughter that had the
capabilities to succeed at higher level
eventing but also had the temperament
and trainability to become a highly
versatile sports horse suitable for both
the amateur and professional rider.
As first timers to the Futurities we found
the experience very useful to receive
feedback from the vet assessment and
the evaluators and look forward to a
long partnership with Milo.”
A Gold Premium of 8.38 ensured top
showjumping foal position of the day for
Darwin’s Warrior, a son of Darwin Z out
of a Noble Warrior mare.
Says breeder Zoe Smith: "Darwin’s
Warrior is a wonderful stamp of both
sides of his parents. His mother is by
Nobel Warrior and his father is Darwin
Z by the ever famous Dominator 2000
