Grufallo’s Child
Says Phillip:
“We were chuffed to bits by his result.
A 10 for his canter was brilliant, and
we were thrilled to have our own high
opinion of him confirmed so fulsomely by
the futurity panel.
He is known as Goose at home and is
by Grafenstolz, who is the event stallion
of the moment following Badminton and
the Europeans! He’s been shown lightly
this season starting at Bramham when he
was only 28 days and 5 hrs old,
culminating in winning at the Great
Yorkshire Show. His dam won at
Bramham, the Great Yorkshire and
Aintree, qualifying for the price family in
hand supreme championship at HOYS.
Mum is 8, by Renkum Calliano out of
a Lauriston mare. We have owned her
since she was 2, and have her older full
brother who has evented up to novice
with Holly Richardson, despite being
18hh!
Goose is a lovely gregarious and
intelligent animal who has really
benefited from turnout with his herd of
mares and foals. I’ve just started out
breeding seriously - goose has a
4-year-old half sister by Future Illusion at
home. We have 4 foals at home, so
will be bringing most of them on for sale
at some point. I would ideally like to
keep Goose to produce for international
Eventing with Holly or failing that find
him a buyer with a track record of
ownership with a world class rider.”
The highest scoring showjumping score
of the day went to Rulentic who is by
Faltic HB out of a Linardo VB mare. This
lovely foal was bred by Katie Benbow
and presented by Lisa Benbow. He
achieved a very convincing Gold
Premium score of 8.75

From one of the younger to one of the
oldest participants of the day, another
showjumping Gold Premium was
achieved by It’s the Warrior who is by
Noble Warrior out of an It’s the Business
mare and who achieved a score of 8.58.
This makes him also the highest scoring
5-year-old of the day.

“‘Turvi’ as he is named at home is a
homebred horse and the temperament
of a gentle giant, which we’re grateful
for with him standing at 18hh. For a
big horse he combines power with a
lightness on his feet that allows him to be
very balanced and level at this age. He
had a very successful 4-year-old season
and was crowned overall 4-year-old
Champion at the British Breeding Bridge
evaluations followed by a successful
season this year jumping multiple clears
at home international events including
triple clear at Bolesworth International
earlier in June.
