Welcome back to school and to a brand new year. 2009 has a
lot in store for us as an athletic department and school. We are
going to four tournaments that will include Antwerp, Belgium;
Sigtuna, Sweden; Luxembourg and Aberdeen, Scotland. We
are also going to be hosting a rugby tournament here in
Stavanger on May 28th and 29th. It will be an exciting time
and busy atmosphere.
Our tournaments are under way. The Junior Varsity Boys
team just returned from a great trip in Aberdeen. Thanks to the
International School of Aberdeen, all the boys had a fantastic
time and captured 3rd place! The boys worked very hard and
showed a fighting spirit as they took on the International School
of Aberdeen, London and Egham along with local teams as
well.

Thanks boys for a fun and memorable trip. Also, a huge thank
you to Coach Espen and Coach Knudsen for chaperoning the
team in Aberdeen!
The Junior Varsity Boys 2 team played three teams this
past weekend and came away with some wins. They hustled
hard and finished the games with an intensity that helped them
improve their basketball skills.
Junior Varsity Girls had a great game against the
SBBK girls. They showed spirit, determination and teamwork
throughout the game. For further development of their skills,
the girls challenged their parents on friday the 13th. It must
have been bad luck for the parents, as the JV girls took the lead
at the end of the game and won by 3 points! Well Done!
The JV teams have worked hard all season. As the seasons come
to an end, they should be proud of the progress they have made.
Basic skills have improved greatly as well as fitness levels.
Thanks for a great season so far and let’s finish on a high
note by playing our final games this year with purpose and
enthusiasm.
The Varsity Boys have their eyes set on a tough looking
tournament in Antwerp. Coach Henry has prepared them to
face the formidable challenge of other NECIS schools. They
have a couple of local games before colliding with the NECIS
teams in mid-March.
Coach Cat and the Varsity Girls took on a local team and
saw that their teamwork and energy has helped them improve
since the beginning of the season. He is looking forward to the
competition in Antwerp for the NECIS tournament March
13th.
Coach Cox, Hettema and Hogarth are keeping the NECIS
Swim Team busy in the pool. Swimmers have chosen their
swimming events in NECIS and will be working hard to
improve their times and strive towards personal records. Stay
safe in the water and prepare hard for March 27th when you
leave to show NECIS what Stavanger can do in the water!
