The Norwegian Health Policy is to vaccinate against TB using the BCG vaccine.
This is done in the 9th grade.
The BCG vaccine is NOT compulsory as many countries do not use this vaccine
as in the United States. HOWEVER Montoux Testing which is carried out
before the vaccine is given is compulsory.
The dates of the Montoux testing will be March 9th OR March 16th a letter will
be sent home with more detailed information to all our 9th grade students.
Please do not hesitate to call the nurse’s office or e-mail me with any questions
you may have .
A Polio booster can be given also at this time.

will be talking with our High School Students on Friday 6th March
As part of our health education program and ongoing commitment to prevention
and wellness, we have invited health educators from FCD Educational Services to
join our community for one day on Friday 6th March.
FCD is a non-profit organization that provides substance abuse prevention for
schools.
Their mission is to:
• Provide educational, communities with the guidance and training necessary
to implement comprehensive, effective approaches to substance abuse
prevention
• Educate students on the physiological and psychological effects of alcohol
and other drugs
• Teach students how to recognize the early warning signs of substance abuse
and to intervene appropriately
• Empower young people to make healthy, responsible choices regarding
alcohol and other drug use
• Encourage and support the non use of alcohol and other illegal or illicit drugs
during the growing years.
FCD educators are highly trained health professionals who have achieved long
term recovery from alcohol and/or other drug addictions. This unique “I’ve been
there” prospective not only enhances the credibility of their message, but provides
students with role models for happy, healthy drug-free living.
A parent evening will be held later this school year, where a panel of experts will
be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
