It was pleasing to so many of you at our IB Information Evening
and College Night. I hope you found them both informative
and useful. Please be reminded that if you have any questions
in regard to the processes that were outlined, you only have to
pick up a phone or send in an e-mail and we will be more than
happy to seek to provide answers.
The course and college selection process can often seem
overwhelming but once you have the appropriate information
to hand and are able to follow-up on aspects that you may be
unsure of the process becomes manageable and provide positive
outcomes. Next on our agenda in terms of presentations is the
grade 8 transition evening. This takes place on Tuesday 3rd
March between 7:00pm & 9:00pm in the Lovelace Theatre.
Ms Wallace has already sent a reminder home of the date and
time of the meeting and a letter will be e-mailed home shortly
outlining the agenda for the evening. There will be a package
of information available for collection on the evening and for
those of you who are unable to attend, we will ensure that you
receive the information through the mail. Complementing this
information evening there are many related activities taking
place within class time for our grade 8 designed to assist them
and you with the process of transition to the High School.
From an administrative perspective the information that we
gain from the course selection process helps us to build our
schedule/timetable for the academic year 2009 – 2010. As part
of the process this year we have attempted to design a form that
seeks to identify meaningful options that may not currently be

offered within our High School Programme. As the forms are
returned the feedback is reviewed carefully to ascertain whether
modifications can and should be made. By the end of April we
are seeking to confirm all student course selections.
As I write our High School students have returned from a
successful Model United Nations (MUN) trip to The Hague and
I would like to thank Mr Næss and Ms Wright for chaperoning
this event as well as organizing (with Mr Keerman) the early
morning classes in preparation for the MUN conferences. On
the sports front our basketball teams are making good progress
and I hope to report on the NECIS tournaments in the next
Informer.
Currently our Student Council is in the process of preparing for
this year’s Valentine’s Dance which actually takes place on 14th
February this year! Following are a number of events that are
on the horizon and some additional reminders in regard to use
of internet and online safety:
Parent/Student-Teacher Conferences – 12th & 13th March
We are now past the mid-point of the third quarter and this
means the onset of the parent teacher conferences. Earlier in
February you will have received a conference e-mail request and
if you have not yet responded please do so as soon as possible.
Please remember that we welcome both parents and students at
these meetings. Conferences will be held on the Thursday 12th
and Friday 13th March.
