Robinson in the court house and<br />
the first <strong>of</strong>ficers elected were Dr. W.<br />
T. Easley, President, Pro Tern; R.<br />

Lindly delegate to the Supreme<br />
Court at Springfield, 111., which<br />
meeting was held July 19, 189.5.<br />
At the Supreme Court a few years<br />
later W. E. Robinson, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greenville</strong>,<br />
was elected Supreme Recorder,<br />
Washington Sherman and Family, at the present time.<br />
which position he still holds.<br />

Court was not effected until<br />
August 3, 1S95, at which time the<br />

On February 16, 1897, twenty<br />
members, who had taken withdrawal<br />
cards from Memento Rebekah<br />
Lodge No. 125, I. O. O. P., <strong>of</strong><br />
Vandalia, 111., met in the hall <strong>of</strong><br />
Clark Lodge No. 3, I. O. O. P., in<br />
<strong>Greenville</strong>, for the purpose <strong>of</strong> instituting<br />
a Rebekah Lodge. Mrs.<br />
May D. Stone, President <strong>of</strong> the<br />
state association acted as Grand<br />
Master <strong>of</strong> the occasion and a lod^e<br />
was duly organized, with sixteen<br />
charter members. On March 31,<br />
<strong>of</strong> the same year, forty-three new<br />
members were initiated, making in<br />
all fifty-nine members. At one<br />
time Melrose Lodge had one hundred<br />
members enrolled. The first<br />
elected <strong>of</strong>ficers were as follows:<br />
