Mrs Dora Hastings has the honor<br />
<strong>of</strong> having held her <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Marshal<br />
ever since the camp was organized<br />
in 1897. The Royal Neighbors are<br />
noted for their kindness and help<br />
in time <strong>of</strong> trouble and sickness. I<br />
will further say: "By their works<br />
ye shall know them."<br />
Mutual protective League.<br />

Security Council No. 156 <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Mutual Protective League 'was organized<br />
in this city April 3, 1899,<br />
by H. L. Tripod, who was then<br />
state deputy <strong>of</strong> the order. At the<br />
organization <strong>of</strong> the council E. E^<br />
-Burson, Supreme Vice President <strong>of</strong><br />
-the order, was present and gave mstructions<br />
in the secret work. The<br />
charter membership <strong>of</strong> the council<br />
was fifteen and it has had a steady<br />
<strong>Historical</strong> Souvenir <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greenville</strong>, <strong>Illinois</strong>.<br />
Mrs. a. D. Ross and Sons.<br />
increase in membership up to the<br />
present time, and now has enrolled<br />
about sixty members. The <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />
elected at the time <strong>of</strong> the organization<br />
were:<br />
Rev. C. D. Shumard, President;<br />
Mrs. J. L. Bunch, Vice President:<br />
Lloyd P. Davis, Secretary and<br />
Treasurer; B. F. Coop, M. D., Medi-<br />
cal Examiner; all <strong>of</strong> whom still<br />
hold these respective <strong>of</strong>fices, <strong>being</strong><br />
re-elected at each term.<br />
This council is in a very flourishing<br />
condition, having its regular<br />
monthly meetings. Until recently<br />
the meetings were held in Odd<br />
Fellows Hall. While this lodge is<br />
not the largest in the city it is considered<br />
by its members as one <strong>of</strong><br />
the safest and surest on life insurance<br />
lines.<br />
Royal Hmericane.<br />

The Fraternal Army <strong>of</strong> America,<br />
which was organized in <strong>Greenville</strong><br />
July IS, 1901, and the Loyal Americans,<br />
which order was organized in<br />
1903, were merged on September<br />
15, 190 3, and took the name <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Loyal Americans. The first <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Loyal Americans were<br />
George Alderman. President and<br />
Ollie Dixon, Secretary. The first<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> the Fraternal Army were<br />
Sam Plant, President and B. M.<br />
Davis, Secretary. These last named<br />
are the present <strong>of</strong>ficers. There are<br />
at present twenty-six members en-<br />
Residence <strong>of</strong> a. D. Ross, East College Avenue.
