Incorporated As a City.<br />
At a special election held August<br />
13, 1S72, <strong>Greenville</strong> was incorporated<br />
as a city under the state law,<br />
the vote heing 140 for the propo-<br />
sition to 5 against. The first election<br />
under this law was held September<br />
17, 1S72. The following<br />
paragraphs give the names <strong>of</strong> all<br />
elective <strong>of</strong>ficers at regular municipal<br />
elections from that time to date.<br />
In each case the first named alderman<br />
represented the first ward; the<br />
second named, the second ward; and<br />
the third named, the third ward.<br />
