The quirky and ambitious Palais de Tokyo
is the archetypal anti-museum and
breaker of conventions, and this year it
will become one of Europe’s biggest sites
dedicated to contemporary art. Its floor
area has grown from 8000 to 22000 m 2 ,
with 5000 m 2 of exhibition space, a
book shop and a restaurant with its own
terrace…
• LA TRIENNALE 2012
INTENSE PROXIMITY
Until 26 August
La Triennale is the Palais de
Tokyo’s first large exhibition since
its reopening, and offers a broad
inventory of contemporary art,
where the French scene and the
powerhouses of international
creativity come together. Outside the
Palais de Tokyo, the exhibition spreads
out into seven associated venues in
Paris and the surrounding area.

Huge cartoon strips projected
against its equally huge windows
and enormous pink balls for lights:
the restaurant in the Palais de Tokyo
boasts, amongst other attributes, an
incredibly playful and colourful décor,
cuisine to match and an astounding
terrace looking onto the Eiffel Tower.

The quai Branly museum nestles in greenery, and is offering you the opportunity to
experience sound-enhanced trails, chill to electronic music, listen to stories and enjoy
workshops, food tasting events and much more – all for free! Inside, art collections
from Oceania, Africa, Asia and the Americas await you, as well as the Les Séductions du
Palais Cuisiner et manger en Chine exhibition, from 19 June until 30 September and The
Masters of Disorder (Maîtres du désordre), until 29 July. The latter explores the notions
of order and disorder in the world, mixing together elements of chaos, shamanism,
voodoo, fetishes and works by Picasso, Messager and even Basquiat.

MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
• CRUMB. FROM THE
UNDERGROUND TO GENESIS

This first retrospective exhibition
dedicated to Robert Crumb celebrates
the pioneer of the underground comic
and mythical figure of American counterculture.

influential contemporary American
painters on the artistic scene is having his
first exhibition in Paris until 19 August.
Resisting the present.
Mexico 2000/2012 will be showing
around fifty works from twenty-four
politically-engaged Mexican artists until
8 July.
Sixty-one works by Giorgio de Chirico
recently bequeathed to the museum, are
on exclusive display until 1 st July.
