I would like to recognize everyone who helped and supported me in writing this family
history. Each helped in some way either with a story, a date, a photo or a name. No
matter how small the detail, the addition built on what others had offered and helped
bring about a clearer picture of our family story. The work has just begun, it’s up to all
of us to continue adding details to this document and to share the stories of our ancestors
so that future generations may know them better.
First I would like to thank Norma Harris and Kurt English for their support and love.
Thanks to Mrs. Richey, my 10th grade US History teacher for urging me to begin doing
the research in 1980. To my mother who sent me on a one week trip to Salt Lake City
at a time when she could not afford such extravagances. To Adolph Omega Infanger
and Hedwig Infanger Cote’ for allowing me to interview them and for their efforts to
make sure the family history was documented. To Sr. Ann Infanger, Frank & Del Infanger,
all the Infanger and Cote’ family members who contributed greatly to this project.
To the Mormon Library in Salt Lake City where I found the initial records on Switzerland
and to the repositories of old documents including Canton Uri Archive, Ancestry.com,
New York City Municipal Archives, and the Internet. I am grateful for personal
computers, Family Tree Maker software and the Internet which allowed me to get organized
and collect data electronically as doing genealogy before their advent was
maddening.
After so many years of researching them I would like to thank Margaret Cote Riva,
Jackie Mills & Stephen Otton for providing me with the first images of Charles and
Catherine. Finally, to anyone who I did not mention personally, thank you for your sup-
