Charles applied for citizenship at the Common Pleas Court, New York County, New York on January 2, 1886. He became a citizen of the United States on July 5, 1888. Charles’ wife Catherine would have become a citizen automatically with Charles. Within five years he opened his own architect's office. We do not know where his first office was but by 1900 it was in East New York, a section of Brooklyn, N. Y. His office was in the Mechanics Bank building and was later moved to the Kiendl building, at the corner of Atlantic and Pennsylvania Avenues. Charles’ son, Otto, became an architect and joined in his father’s business, Charles renamed the company Infanger & Son, Otto took over the business when Charles died in 1938 until his death in 1947.
