{Excerpt from letter written by Adolph Omega Infanger, 1985}
Adolf Infanger, a nephew of Charles, first cousin of Adolph {Omega} Infanger, lived in Fluelen, on Lake
Lucerne, all his life - from January 16, 1902 until his death March 27, 1978. Our association with Adolph and his
wife, Marie, became very close after 1952. On our numerous trips to Switzerland we usually spent vacations of 8
to 10 days together. Adolf gave us a wooden plate with the Infanger coat of arms, dated 1500, and featuring a
crescent moon and stars. He explained that the Infanger, family had lived in Simmental, Canton Berne. At the
time of the Reformation in 1500 the Canton of Berne became Protestant. The Infanger family remained Catholic
and moved to Isenthal, Canton Uri, a small, isolated village in a high valley on the west side of Lake Lucerne.
The family were sawyers and in the lumber business. The narrow paved road up from Lake Lucerne was built
only about 1920. Adolf and Marie took us up to Isenthal for a visit several years ago. There was a small sawmill
on the little stream that runs through the village. There were numerous Infangers who owned small stores. Also,
there were several Infangers buried in the church graveyard. A sawmill still operated in Isenthal.
