EUCOMUS 'SPARKLING BURGUNDY' is a deep purple
leafed pineagpple lily that will get to 18" tall. The foliage
appears out of the ground in spring and almost bursts into
growth. In late summer the 2' flower stalks have flower
clusters that look like pinapples. We grow our plants in full
sun with plenty of mulch but have seen stunning plants
growing out of gravel. 1 gal. $ 12.00
EUCRYPHIA -
E. GLUTINOSA - This is the hardiest of the eucrypihas.
This deciduous large shrub will have white flowers in July-
August. The flowers are honey scented and are 2" across with
a large base of stamens. 1 gal. $ 20.00
E. MILLIGINII - Said to get to be a small tree, but so far
we only have an 18" specimen after several years. The leaves
are dark evergreen and tiny. Looks like a very small
Eucryphia lucida. Flowers are small white in summer. Only
adapted to coastal California or the Northwest.

EUONYMUS
E. 'GREEN SPIRE' is a columnar evergreen euonymus.
This shrub will get 10-12' tall and 2' across. The small leaves
are dark green and very glossy. This easy shrub will make a
handsome irregular hedge or individual specimen.

EXOCHORDA 'THE BRIDE' - Pearl Bush is an arching
shrub up to 4' tall. Our plant is only 18" tall and 36" across.
The gray-blue foliage is fairly narrow and makes a nice foil for
the strands of pearls. The buds are held in 2-3" strands and
open to crenulated white flowers. Would be a nice plant to
cascade over a retaining wall.

FAGUS
F. SYLVATICA 'ANSORGEI' - This beech has very
narrow leaves ( 1 /2" wide x 6" long). The dark purple leaves
make an unusual silhouette on the open tree.

F. SYLVATICA 'BLACK SWAN' - Dark purple foliage
with a handsome weeping form. The black-purple leaves hold
their color all summer. 1 gal. $ 45.00
F. SYLVATICA 'DAWYCK GOLD' - Found and named
in 1969 by JRP Van Hoey-Smith. This columnar tree has
golden yellow new growth. During the summer our plant
(20' X 3') fades some, but still has a yellow look to the tree.

F. SYLVATICA 'TRICOLOR' - The tricolor beech has
stunning new growth in spring. The white, pink and purple
foliage makes the tree look like it's in flower. As summer
proceeds the foliage darkens but is still attractive. Best
planted so the morning or evening sun can filter through and

FATSHEDRA
F. LIZEI 'CURLY' has wavy evergreen foliage year
round and can be left as a large scale ground cover growing
perhaps 2-3' tall and 4-5' wide. 1 gal. $ 20.00
F. LIZEI 'VARIEGATA'. This plant is a cross between
ivy and fatsia. The irregular plant doesn't climb but can be
coaxed into an upright form on a post. The evergreen leaves
are intermediate between ivy and fatsiia in size and have a

FERNS - We have expanded our selection of ferns
dramatically this year so we have put them all together
as a category. These easy beautiful plants are a must
for any garden. We can't ever put too many ferns in our
garden so hurry and buy these plants from us so we
don't get carried away.
ARACHNOIDES SIMPLICOR VARIEGATA is an
evergreen fern that will get to about one foot tall. The
deep green leaves will have yellow variegation at the
center of the frond. This fern can brighten a shady spot
on its own, but grows well with many other woodlanders.

ASPLENIUM
A. SCOLOPENDIUM - The Heart's Tongue fern is
an evergreen fern 1-2' tall. This fern does not have the
pinnales as most ferns do. The glossy green leaves are
single, unbranched leaves. The books say it needs
lime, so for a simple idea try planting next to your house
foundation which has lime in the concrete.

A. TRICHOMANES A native all over the northern
hemisphere and is an extraordinarily hardy small fern.
This little clump former will get all of 8" tall with fine
textured fronds. Grows well in a rock garden in excellent
drainage or under our greenhouse propagation benches
with heavy moisture year round. People always ask for
some plants, so we are finally offering plants in the

BLECHNUM CORDATUM - (chiliense). A South
American deer fern that has giant leaves. We got this
beautiful fern from Judith Jones in WA years ago. The
new growth is rusty color and changes to deep green.
The evergreen leaves can get to 4-5' in time. Our plant
has slowly spread to 5' wide. Needs shade, moisture
and not too much cold (10° F.).

DRYOPTERIS
D. CYCADIANA - Although from China, Japan and
Thailand, the books say this fern is very hardy. As the
name implies the foliage looks somewhat like a cycad.

D. DILATATA RECURVATA - This European to
Asian fern is deep green and will have the pinnae rolled
inwards, making a neat plant for the woodland garden.
Doesn't like hot, dry conditions but is a good plant for the
northwest or northeast climate.

D. ERYTHROSA - Lovely bronzed foliage on a 12"-
18" slowly spreading fern. This adaptable plant will take
dryer conditions when established. This Japanese or
Chinese native will always make a great addition to the

enormous range of Europe, North America, Africa and
Asia. This deciduous fern is the ultimate in tough, easy
