ABELIA FLORABUNDA - is a Mexican Abelia with
amazing vibrant pink flowers. The flowers appear in June and
are 2-3" long tubes that cover the plant. The leaves are small
and have serrated edges. Could grow in mild areas along the
coast or in California. We grow our plants in containers which
have withstood 15 F. 1 gal $ 18.00
A. MOSANENSIS - This fragrant abelia is said to be as
fragrant as a lilac. The pink buds open up to pinkish white
flowers in late spring. Grows to 4-5' tall and wide.

ABELIOPHYLLUM
A. DISTICHUM 'PINK STAR'. The plants can get 5-6' tall
and in late February the small pink flowers will cover the bare
stems. The flowers are lightly scented in that period of time
between the witch hazels and the early magnolias. We suggest
that your plant be grown with some frost protection in colder

A. DISTICHUM 'ROSEUM' - This white forsythia is
pink ! The light pink flowers appear in late February on a 5-6'
open shrub. The plant has fragrant flowers and could probably
be a good host for a small flowered clematis or an annual

ABIES
A. KOREANA 'HORSTMANN'S SILBERLOCKE' -
The Korean fir is a handsome plant on its own with weird dark
green needles that recurve to show the white undersides. This
slow grower eventually becomes a small tree but takes many
years. The cones are held upright and complete a beautiful

ACER
A. CAMPESTRE 'CARNIVAL' - The English hedge maple
is sheared and grown all over England in mixed hedges. The
species is multibranched and suckering. A. campestre
'Carnival' is a very small tree (large shrub) with small leaves
that have wide white margins. The plant looks totally white
from a distance. Our plant is grown in afternoon shade, as full
sun can cause sunburn. 1 gal. $ 28.00
A. CIRCINATUM 'MONROE' - This cut leaf vine maple
was discovered in the Cascade mountains just east of our
garden. Our 30 year old plant is 12' X 12' and looks much like
A. japonicum 'Aconitifolium'. 1 gal. $ 38.00
A. CIRCINATUM 'SUNGLOW' - One of our western
natives. This golden form of vine maple makes a large shrub
or small tree with yellow leaves through spring and early
summer followed by a yellow-peach fall color.

A. CONSPICUUM 'PHOENIX' - This striped bark maple
has brilliant red-coral new growth in the winter. The leaves
will turn yellow-orange in fall on this 30' upright small tree.

A. GRISEUM - Paperbark Maple - Perhaps the finest,
most beautiful of all small trees. Leaves are trifoliate,
beautifully colored with brilliant splashes of gold and red for
autumn. The bark splits and peels to reveal a coppery smooth
under-surface. It is rather slow growing and just becomes
more elegant with age. Native to China. We saw the
stunning huge tree collected as seed by Ernest Wilson at the
Arnold Arboretum, Boston. The main trunk is 2-3' through--

A. JAPONICUM 'ACONITIFOLIUM' - The 'Fernleaf
Maple' from Japan has some of the most beautiful fall color
each year. This plant grows artistically to 15-20'. The leaves
are deeply cut almost to the petiole. The medium green leaves
turn beautiful yellow, orange, and red in the fall.

A. MACROPHYLLUM - For those that have 1/2 acre
for one tree, our native bigleaf maple is just what you want. A.
macrophyllum U.S. native to most areas of western America
and has leaves that can be one foot across. This fast grower
will make shade quickly but isn't good to grow lawn under
because it is too dark. In the correct spot it is a wonderful tree.

A. MACROPHYLLUM 'MOCHA ROSE' - This form
has lovely chocolate pink leaves in spring to early summer.
This plant will eventually become a large tree but may take a
long time. The new growth is a handsome change from the

A. MAXIOMIXIANUM (NIKKOENSE). This hardy
trifoliate maple is similar to Acer griseum but doesn't have the
peeling bark. The bark on A. maxiomixianum is soft gray.
The fall color is brilliant orange, red and yellow.

A. PALMATUM 'BENI SCHICHIHENGE' - This
maple has an upright growth to 10-12' tall. The variegated
leaves will have coral margins in spring turning creamy-pink
in summer. The plant will look lovely brightening up a quiet

A. PALMATUM 'FAIRY HAIR' comes to us from
plantsman Talon Buchholz. We had A. 'Fairy Hair' two years
ago and sold out very quickly because of the hairlike leaves.
The maple leaf is so fine it's almost hard to imagine it's a
maple. This plant makes an excellent container specimen or a

A. PALMATUM 'FIRST GHOST' has white mid ribs on
the leaves that darken to deep green at the margins. This
Talon Buchholz selection makes an attractive small tree.

A. PALMATUM 'GEISHA' is a small growing Japanese
maple which has lovely pink new growth in spring. The new
growth is spotted with green and peachy colored highlights.
There will be color throughout the summer on the leaves
making a long lasting event all summer.

purple leafed Japanese maple. The deep purple new growth
