P. DELAVAYI - This plant looks very much like P.<br />

ludlowii va. 'Lutea', but rather than the brilliant yellow<br />

flowers, P. delavayii will have deep maroon flowers. The 6-8'<br />

shrub will have multiple trunks and spectacular green foliage<br />

all summer. In the fall the leaves will turn right yellow. The<br />

plant is very hardy as well as being a beautiful shrub.<br />

P. 'GAUGIN' is many peony growers' favorite variety.<br />

The flowers have multiple shadings of red, purple and peach.<br />

The six inch flowers are lovely in bud as well as in full bloom.<br />

The foliage is dark green spring-summer. In fall there is<br />

P. 'GOLD SOVEREIGN' - (1949) . This soft yellow<br />

tree peony is the last to bloom in May. The multiple stemmed<br />

plant fills in, growing fast into a broad plant.<br />

P. LUDLOWII 'LUTEA' - This tree peony has single<br />

golden yellow flowers. The plant can get to 8' tall in 20 years.<br />

The foliage is typical tree peony form but is longer and<br />

narrow. These plants are seedlings so may take 2-3 years to<br />

bloom but will have uniform gold, yellow flowers. Molly the<br />

P. MLOKOSEWITSCHII - The molly witch peony<br />

has attractive foliage, especially the new growth which is<br />

rhubarb red for several weeks in spring. The large buds open<br />

to bright yellow flowers in April. We grow our plants in semi<br />

shade but they will also grow in fall sun.<br />

P. 'VESUVIAN' -(Saunders 1948) - This vigorous tree<br />

peony is very low growing and not only has beautiful flowers,<br />

but the cut leafed foliage turns color in the fall to extend the<br />

season. P.'Vesuvian' has dark purple-black double flowers for<br />

a long season in late April into early May.<br />

PARROTIA PERSICA 'VANESSA' - This is a narrow<br />

growing parrotia, so can be grown in a much smaller position.<br />

PARTHENOCISSUS<br />

P. 'FENWAY PARK' - This golden form of Boston Ivy<br />

was actually found in Boston at Fenway Park. The fine<br />

textured golden leaves hold their color all summer. It isn't an<br />

aggressive vine so it can grow with other moderate growers.<br />

F. 'HENRYANA ' - This parthenocissus species has dark<br />

green leaves with silver veins. There is also a definite purple<br />

cast to the underside of the leaves and petioles. The fall color<br />

is brilliant red. This is a small growing vine which does well<br />

in filtered shade like growing up a magnolia.<br />

PHILADELPHUS<br />

P. 'BELLE ETOILE' - This fragrant mock orange has<br />

white flowers with lavender flush on the inside of the petals.<br />

Some books say how dark purple the centers are, but being<br />

honest, the centers are a nice light lavender. Be warned in<br />

warm climates (California and the deep south) the petals will<br />

be white. This is one of the loveliest mock oranges.<br />

P. CORONARIUS 'VARIEGATUS.' - We don't have a<br />

big supply but we can help some people get this beautiful<br />

plant. The variegation is a broad white margin to the midgreen<br />

leaves. We don't seem to see many flowers but they are<br />

white and sweetly scented in June. 1 gal. $ 19.00<br />

P. 'FALLBROOK' - The flowers of P. 'Fallbrook' are<br />

single but are 2" across and are pure white. The fragrant<br />

flowers always draw attention because they are so large.<br />

P. 'INNOCENCE' - A variegated mock orange that has<br />

splashed white on dark green leaves. The flowers are 2"<br />

across and are pure white. Makes a nice change from the<br />

P. 'MANTEAU D'HERMINE' - This Lemoine hybrid is a<br />

2-3' mound of small leaves. Flowers are double, fragrant and<br />

creamy white in June. 1 gal. $ 25.00<br />

P. 'SNOWBELLE' - This mock orange will be 3-4' tall.<br />

The flowers are double white in late May-June. Can be grown<br />

in even the smallest garden. 1 gal. $ 17.00<br />

P. 'SNOW DWARF' - A very hardy Canadian hybrid<br />

mock orange. The white flowers are very fragrant in June and<br />

are 1 1/2" across. Grows to 4-5' tall.<br />

PHORMIUM - We have been able to grow the New Zealand<br />

flaxes outside through 0-10° F. for years. We, in fact, just had<br />

to remove a 10' P. 'Dark Delight' from the front of Eric and<br />

Dawn's front window (bad placement). The plants are very<br />

happy in full sun with lots of water. We see plants in<br />

California with low water, but color seems to fade. Superb<br />

container plants in areas that get colder. Just move into<br />

unheated area that won't go below 15° F. for extended periods.<br />

P. 'BLACK RAGE' has extraordinarily dark purple<br />

black foliage. The leaves are narrow and really upright<br />

growing. 1 gal. $ 20.00<br />

P. 'DUSKY CHIEF'. This dark purple phormium will<br />

make a great accent in the perennial border with yellows,<br />

chartreuse foliage or other low growing plants.<br />

P. 'EVENING GLOW '- This deep pink striped<br />

phormium is one of the richest colored forms of flax that we<br />

grow. P 'Evening Glow' is a great plant for a container or for<br />

P. 'FLAMINGO' - is a smaller growing phormium with<br />

narrow leaves that are orangish and pink colored.<br />

P. 'MAORI MAIDEN' - Has rich purple-pink stripes<br />

running vertically up the leaves. One of the most colorful of<br />

the New Zealand flaxes. 1 gal. $ 18.00<br />

P. 'PINK PANTHER' - is a purple and pink striped<br />

phormium that grows quickly into a handsome specimen.<br />

P. 'PINK STRIPE'. This large grower has purple centers<br />

with pink margins. The leaves are broad so will make quite a<br />

statement in the garden or container.<br />
