R. ABERCONWAYI - We haven't sold this fine species<br />

for 20+ years. R. aberconwayi is an upright grower to 6' and<br />

has deep, dark evergreen leaves that are very stiff. The white<br />

flowers will have some spots but are very flat shaped in April.<br />

R. ALUTACEUM VAR. IODES A small shrub with<br />

felted brown indumentum. The trusses are full and rounded<br />

R. 'BAMBI' X PROTIOIDES. This small grower has<br />

pink flowers in spring. The foliage is deep green with soft tan<br />

indumentum. A lovely plant year round<br />

R. BATHYPHYLLUM. A member of the taliense series<br />

with medium green matte foliage that has rusty red<br />

indumentum under the leaves. White flowers that can have<br />

lots of spots on the petals. It is felt by our source that this<br />

R. BUREAVII X 'FABIA.' - The salmon pink flowers are<br />

beautiful addition to the deep green foliage. Our supplier says<br />

this plant must have shade to grow.<br />

R. BUREAVII (LEM'S) The deep green leaves have<br />

deeply felted rusty indumentum that can be simply stunning.<br />

The new growth will also have rusty tomentum. R bureauvii<br />

can eventually get 6' tall and is best planted so the gardener<br />

can look up into the foliage. Flowers are white with some<br />

pink highlights. 2 gal. $ 24.00<br />

R. BUREAVII (LEM'S) X PRONUM - As with most<br />

of our rhododendrons, this is a small growing plant with leaves<br />

and stems covered with lovely brownish-orange indumentum.<br />

R. CATACOSMUM is a small growing (4') member of<br />

the neriiiflorum series. Leaves are 4" long that are dark green<br />

on top and have dark brown indumentum. The lovely flowers<br />

are crimson to rose in spring. 2 gal. $ 28.00<br />

R. CONCINNUM - has vibrant glowing purple flowers<br />

in April-May. The 2" flowers occur on a small truss. The<br />

foliage is green with some purple highlighting as they leaf out.<br />

R. EDGEWORTHIA 'BODNANT' - has a lovely<br />

cinnamon allspice scent to the flowers in April. This plant has<br />

been hardy to 0°F occasionally. The foliage is deeply veined<br />

and has a soft light tan indumentum under the leaves. The<br />

flowers are white with attractive pink and yellow flashes.<br />

R. 'EBONY PEARL' has the richest glowing purple red<br />

glossy foliage most of the year. This sport of R. 'Pink Pearl'<br />

will have unusual pink mauve flowers in April-May.<br />

R. FORRESTII- has rich red bell shaped flowers that<br />

are fairly large, compared to the small plant. We have seen 20<br />

year old plants less than 6" x15". 1 gal. $ 18.00<br />

R. 'FRAGRANTISSIMUM ' is a hybrid with large white<br />

flowers in April. The truss will have only 3 or 4 flowers, but<br />

they are large and have a superb nutmeg scent. R.<br />

'Fragrantissimum' isn't hardy here, but will do very well in a<br />

container to move inside during cold weather.<br />

. R. GLOBIDGERUM - Has amazing rusty hairs on dark<br />

green leaves. This rhododendron is grown primarily for its<br />

handsome foliage. The flowers are soft pink to white in April<br />

- May. 1 gal. $ 22.00<br />

R. 'KEN JANECK' - Has wide leaves that are much larger<br />

than the typical rhododendron yakusimanum. The leaves are<br />

very dark green and have soft tan indumentum. Flowers are<br />

white with pink buds. 2 gal. $ 30.00<br />

R. MACABEANUM CECIL SMITH form selfed - One<br />

of the beautiful large leafed rhododendron species. The 8-12"<br />

rounded leaves are deep green with large veins. The<br />

indumentum is white silver so will make quite an impression<br />

when the plant gets large. Our 15 year old plant is 8-10' tall<br />

and 10' wide. The trusses are rich clear yellow bells. It takes<br />

10+ years for R. macabeanum to bloom, so the foliage is all<br />

important. R. macabeanum is hardy to about 5-10° F., but<br />

needs protection from wind. We have only a few available, so<br />

one per customer, first come, first served.<br />

R. MAGNIFICUM - has huge, long, robust, deep green<br />

leaves. The foliage will get to 18" and have light colored<br />

indumentum. The plant can get 15'x15' in time.<br />

R. MAKINOI has narrow (1/2") long (6") leaves that are<br />

medium green with tan indumentum under the leaves. This<br />

foliage plant will have soft pink flowers in spring.<br />

R. MAKINOI x PACHYSANTHUM - has fairly<br />

narrow leaves with beautiful fawn colored indumentum year<br />

round 2 gal. $ 22.00<br />

R. 'MAY MORN' X PROTEOIDES - This hybrid has<br />

yellow flowers from the 'May Morn' parent and a very dwarf<br />

form with rusty indumentum from R. proteoides.<br />

R. MERGERATUM 'CECIL SMITH' - This dwarf<br />

rhododendron will get to 12" in time with dark green small<br />

leaves and yellow flowers with flattened petals.<br />

R. PACHYSANTHUM - The foliage of<br />

R. pachysanthum is similar to R. pseudochrysanthum but has a<br />

lot more indumentum and tomentum. The indumentum is a<br />

more tan color rather than silver like R. pseudochysanthum.<br />

The soft pink flowers are a bonus each spring.<br />

R. PRONUM - We have seen 18" x 18" plants of this<br />

collector's item in rhododendron collections. The leaves are<br />

larger and broader than R. protioides. Flowers are the typical<br />

pink-white of the taliensia series.<br />

R. PROTEOIDES CECIL SMITH FORM - It is very<br />

slow growing and difficult to propagate. R. protioides is one<br />

of the smallest (if not the smallest) of all rhododendrons.<br />

Handsome, small 1/2-1" leaves have rusty colored<br />

indumentum. Make sure R. proteoides has a humus rich soil<br />

with good drainage. 1 gal. $ 28.00<br />

R. PROTOPRON - Don't like the name but this hybrid of<br />

R. proteoides and R. pronum. There is hybrid vigor in this 2'<br />

plant. The foliage is just as beautiful as both its parents.<br />
