Longenecker, Tyrone. Twenty-nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also<br />

survive as does a brother, Pete Lashinsky of Conemaugh. He was married to Anna<br />

Semetkosky who died in 1966. A son, Paul, preceded him in death in 1960. Friends are<br />

being received today at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home in Houtzdale. Parastas will<br />

be said at 8 o’clock this evening . Friends will also be received tomorrow morning prior<br />

to 10 a.m. when services will be conducted in St. Vladimir’s Church with the Rev.<br />

Lenion Schemetylo officiating, assisted <strong>by</strong> the Rev. Andrew Lashinsky. Interment will be<br />

LASHINSKY, Wasco Jr.<br />

Wasco Lashinsky Jr., 89, Wood, Pa., died at his home Wednesday, April 25, 2012,<br />

following a brief illness. Born December 29, 1922, in Wood, he was the son of the late<br />

Eva (Warholic) and Wasco Lashinsky Sr. He was united in marriage to the former Helen<br />

E. “Betty” Crooks June 7, 1947, in Cumberland, Md. She preceded him in death<br />

December 16, 2007. He is survived <strong>by</strong> his daughter, Darlene (Lashinsky) Black and her<br />

husband Bill, Wood; and his son, David Lashinsky and his wife Vickie, Broad Top City;<br />

six grandchildren: Danyelle Kling and her fiance, Jeff Knepper; Shawna Clark and her<br />

husband Scott; Lindsey Black, Nichole Carberry and her husband Sam, Trevor Lashinsky<br />

and his wife Erin and Carrie Strayer and her husband Greg; 10 greatgrandchildren:<br />

MacKenzie, Jamison, Dawson, Damon, Alayna, Brittney, Dalton, Kaitlyn, Austin and<br />

Lucas; three brothers: Paul Lashinsky, Six Mile Run, and Harry and Steve Lashinsky,<br />

both of Wood. He was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> three brothers and three sisters: Anna Clark,<br />

Mary McCue, Helen Miller, and Pete, John and George Lashinsky. He served in the<br />

United States Army in World War II. He received the Good Conduct medal, Meritorious<br />

Unit award, Phillippines Liberation ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service medal, two<br />

Battle Stars and a Victory medal. He was a lifetime member of the Robertsdale, Wood &<br />

Broad Top Volunteer Fire Co., Saxton Sportsman Association and the American Legion.<br />

He worked in the coal mines for 15 years and then worked construction. Upon his<br />

retirement he became part owner of the Twin Gables 1 in Broad Top City. Funeral<br />

services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc.,<br />

Broad Top City. Rev. Jeff Musser officiated. Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Broad<br />

Top City. Military honors were held <strong>by</strong> Broad Top Honor Guard. Memorial contributions<br />

may be made to First Church of God, Broad Top City, PA 16621, or Home Nursing<br />

Agency Foundation.<br />

LASKOWSKY, Anna (Warholak)<br />

Madera- Divine Liturgy for Mrs. Anna Laskowsky 77, of Madera who died Wednesday,<br />

May 5, in Philipsburg State General Hospital will be said Saturday at 10 a.m. in St.<br />

Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Ramey the Rev. James E. Poorman will be celebrant<br />

and interment will follow in the church cemetery in Ramey. Born Nov 21, 1909 in<br />

Windber, Mrs. Laskowsky was a daughter of Barillus and Catherine Bilarz Warholak.<br />

She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary<br />

Society. She was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> her first husband Michael Mittal in 193? her<br />

second husband Leonard Laskowsky in 1950 and one brother, Charles. Mrs. Laskowsky<br />

is survived <strong>by</strong> one son Michael Mittal of Novelty, Ohio; three daughters Mrs. James<br />

(Kathleen) Koslor of Munster, Ind.; Mrs. Melvin (Mary) Rose of Schererville, Ind.; and
