Total abundance of miscellaneous taxa (i.e., Cnidaria, Platyhelm<strong>in</strong>thes, Nemert<strong>in</strong>a, Sipuncula,<br />

Phoronidae, Enteropneusta, and Ascidiacea) ranged from 59 organisms at station 1 12 (South<br />

Admiralty Inlet)) to none at five stations (station 120, Possession <strong>Sound</strong>; station 143, Liberty<br />

Bay; station 146, Keyport; and stations 115 and 196, Elliott Bay. Percent total abundance of<br />

miscellaneous taxa ranged from 6% to 0%.<br />

Taxa Richness<br />

Taxa richness (total number of recognizable species <strong>in</strong> each sample, Table 23) ranged from 176<br />

taxa <strong>in</strong> South Admiralty Inlet (station 112) to 2 1 taxa <strong>in</strong> S<strong>in</strong>clair Inlet (station 160). Stations with<br />

highest taxa richness (>lo0 taxa) <strong>in</strong>cluded stations at Port Townsend (stations 109 and 1 1 I),<br />

Rich Passage (station 156), Port Orchard (station 158), and Elliott Bay (stations 174, 175, 183,<br />

and 189). Stations with lowest taxa richness (0.800) were calculated from samples<br />

collected <strong>in</strong> Port Townsend (stations 106, 107, and 109); South Admiralty Inlet (station 1 17);<br />

Possession <strong>Sound</strong> (station 1 18), the central bas<strong>in</strong> (stations 122, 135- 13 8), and East Passage<br />

(stations 140-141); the waterways west of Ba<strong>in</strong>bridge Island (stations 145, 153, 156, 159); and<br />

outer and shorel<strong>in</strong>e Elliott Bay (stations 172, 174, 175, 18 1). Low evenness values (J'
