Lock, stock and barrel<br />
Saifee is a family run ship chandler and supplier of spare<br />
parts in Dubai. Established in 1971 as Saifee Trading, it<br />
imported and stocked general ship equipment and<br />
technology, supplying local ship repair yards, workshops, ship<br />
chandlers and owners. In 1975 managing director Hasan<br />
Najmuddin joined his father in the business. Under his father’s<br />
guidance, Najmuddin went on to establish Saifee Trading, one of<br />
the leading suppliers, importers and stockiest of marine hardware<br />
and equipment.<br />
In the late 1990s Najmuddin saw the potential of the ship<br />
supply business in light of increased ship calls to Dubai, Jebel<br />
Ali and Fujairah. He set up a ship chandling company to provide<br />
ship owners with cost effective supply solutions. Saifee <strong>Ship</strong><br />
Spare Parts & Chandlers was established in 1997.<br />
In 2003, Johar Sarsanwalla came on board as a joint managing<br />
director. A successful entrepreneur in the marine supply business,<br />
he brought a wealth of experience.<br />
Today, Saifee has built a reputation as a respected and reliable<br />
supplier for the global marine and offshore industries and is a<br />
leading marine chandler in the Middle East. The company’s quality<br />

Base of operations<br />
Saifee operates from a custom-built 360,000ft 2 central warehouse<br />
in Dubai that includes 80,000ft 2 of cold stores and a<br />
temperature-controlled dry food area.<br />
The company stocks in excess of 60,000 technical and food<br />
provision items. Its food inventory contains of a wide range of<br />
specialist products consisting of items familiar to Japanese,<br />
Korean, Philippine and European markets.<br />
ISO-certified, Saifee acknowledges its general duty in regards<br />
to food cleanliness and hygiene and ensures the highest safety<br />
standards at work. The firm’s management provides food<br />
hygiene training for those employees designated to work in the<br />
dry and cold stores and has also implemented SOP in food<br />
hygiene and safety policy.<br />
