Leopold was informed by its ambassador to the United St<strong>at</strong>es th<strong>at</strong> a steamship line was<br />

to be established between one city in the United St<strong>at</strong>es and one city in Europe, and<br />

Antwerp was high on th<strong>at</strong> list. Simply put, other interests had priority.<br />
