32 In total, eleven cantonal cancer leagues awarded an average of CHF 4.2 million per year for cancer research. Three-quarters of that amount was given to research by the four largest cantonal cancer leagues – Basel, Bern, Geneva, and Zurich. The average number of projects and institutions supported each year was 50 (Table 5).
