April 8, 1916 – Jan. 9, <strong>2002</strong><br />

Dennis McMANUS, 85, Rochester, died at 4:31 a.m. Wednesday at R.L. Roudebush<br />

Veterans Administration Medical Center, Indianapolis.<br />

Born in Washington Township, Cass <strong>County</strong>, to Dennis and Goldie STEWART<br />

McMANUS, he married Lydia Irene WIDNER Aug. 16, 1946 in Logansport. She died Jan. 16,<br />

1947.<br />

Mr. McManus was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple<br />

Heart. He retired in 1978 from SUS Die Casting Co. He was a member of <strong>Fulton</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Coonhunters Club.<br />

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Victoria Lee WININGER, Indianapolis; one brother,<br />

Rayburn “Mike” [McMANUS] and wife Betty, Logansport; three sisters, Rebecca “Becky”<br />

REICHARD and husband Cliff, Leiters Ford, Frances WEBSTER, Logansport, Mari MITTICA<br />

and husband Dominic, Logansport; several stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.<br />

Preceding in death with his wife were three brothers and two sisters.<br />

Services were Saturday at Mt. Hope Cemetery Chapel, Logansport. Burial was at Mt.<br />

Hope Cemetery, Logansport, with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and<br />

American Legion. Kroeger Funeral Home, Logansport, was in charge of arrangements.<br />

<strong>The</strong>odore R. Benken, Jr.<br />

Sept. 10, 1927 – Jan. 10, <strong>2002</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong>odore Raymond BENKEN Jr., 74, died at 6 p.m. Thursday at his Logansport<br />

residence.<br />

Born in Huntingburg to <strong>The</strong>odore A. and Ruth LEFLER BENKEN, he served in the U.S.<br />

Navy.<br />

Survivors include one brother, James [BENKEN[, Monticello; two sisters, Elizabeth<br />

PILCHER, Pensecola, Fla., Susan LovVRON, Huntingburg; his former wife and best friend, Dr.<br />

Edna L. BENKEN, Centerville.<br />

Preceding in death were one sister, Delores SCHUETTER, and two brothers, John and<br />

Francis BENKEN.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re will be no services or visitation. Burial will take place at a later date. McClain<br />

Funeral Home, Denver, is in charge of arrangements.<br />

John F. Rogers<br />

Oct. 10, 1910 – Jan. 13, <strong>2002</strong><br />

John F. ROGERS, 91, Francesville, died at 1:35 a.m. Sunday at Hickory Creek of<br />

Winamac.<br />

Born in White <strong>County</strong> to Fred and Lydia LEADER ROGERS, he married Anna<br />

WESTPHAL Feb. 15, 1933 at St. John United Church of Christ. She died June 2, 1996.<br />

Mr. Rogers, a lifetime Francesville resident, was a farmer. He was a member of St. James<br />

Salem United Church of Christ, Francesville.<br />

Survivors include three daughters, Donna WADYCKI, Westmont, Ill., Charlene<br />

GUTWEIN and husband John, Rensselaer, Carol BURTON and husband George, Rochester; one<br />

son, Harold [ROGERS] and wife Betty, Francesville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren;<br />

two stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Marie MILLER, Cameron, Okla.; one brother, James<br />

[ROGERS], Remington.<br />

Preceding in death with his wife were one son, three sisters and one brother.
