Preceding in death with her husband were her parents, two sisters and four brothers.<br />

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery,<br />

Indianapolis. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.<br />

Oct. 28, 1922 – Jan. 17, <strong>2002</strong><br />

Junior HOOKS, 79, 6462 A St., Athens, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday at Wabash <strong>County</strong><br />

Hospital, Wabash.<br />

Born in LaFollette, Tenn. to Moss and Sophia O’BRINE HOOKS, he married Rosalee<br />

COLE April 22, 1946 in Paintsville, Ky. She died April 22, 1995.<br />

Mr. Hooks was an Athens resident for 55 years, coming from Paintsville, Ky. He retired<br />

from Rochester Telephone Co. after 38 years. He attended Rochester Church of God and was a<br />

member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1343 and International Brother-hood of Electrical<br />

Workers 723. He served under General Patton during World War II, earning two Purple Hearts<br />

and a Bronze Star.<br />

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda HARRELL, Argos; one son, Kenneth HOOKS,<br />

Argos; three grandchildren, Tammy UTTER and husband Bill, Athens, Melissa ARTIST,<br />

Rochester, Christopher HOOKS and fiance Kelly FLOOR, Rochester; six great-grandchildren;<br />

one sister, Elizabeth HALL and husband Arlie, Wabash; one brother, Euglene HOOKS, Peru.<br />

Preceding in death with his wife were his parents and two brothers, Frank and Robert<br />

HOOKS.<br />

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will<br />

be at Athens Cemetery, where the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will conduct<br />

military rites. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to<br />

services.<br />

Jan. 21, 1935 – Jan. 20, <strong>2002</strong><br />

Marion Dale “Shorty” CARMAN, 66, Rochester, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday at St.<br />

Francis Hospital, Becch Grove.<br />

Born in Bartholomew <strong>County</strong> to Ira and Reba HENDRICKSON CARMAN, he married<br />

Patricia Anne McKINNEY.<br />

Mr. Carman, formerly of Hope, retired from Grissom Air Force Base, Peru, where he was<br />

a technician. He was a member of Whippoorwill Community Church. He served in the U.S. Army<br />

during the Vietnam War and was a member of the National Guard.<br />

Survivors include his wife, at home, one son, Robert CLAWSON, Indianapolis; one<br />

daughter, Connie CARMAN, Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Tammy McCLONE, Warsaw,<br />

Kimberly COMBS, Charleston, W. Va.; one stepson, Jamie NORMAN, Warsaw; 13<br />

stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald [CARMAN], Columbus,<br />

Robert [CARMAN], California; one sister, Deloris KIMBLER, Florida.<br />

Preceding in death were his parents, one son, Allen Dale CARMAN, and one brother,<br />

Harold CARMAN.
