Dr. Milton E. Shaw<br />

Dec. 2, 1925 – Dec. 29, 2001<br />

Dr. Milton E. SHAW, 76, Lexington, Ky., died Saturday in Lexington.<br />

Born in Miami <strong>County</strong> to Bernard O. and Mabel DAWALD SHAW, he married Martha Lou<br />

MADEFORD. She survives.<br />

Dr. Shaw was professor of business administration and management at Iowa Wesleyan<br />

College, later joining Mason and Hanger-Silas Mason Co., Inc. at its Iowa Ammunition Plant,<br />

where he became assistant chief accountant. He then became fiscal manager of its Pantex Plant,<br />

Amarillo, Texas. In 1964, he was named assistant corporate secretary and moved to Lexington. He<br />

retired after 41 years and was senior vice-president and executive director.<br />

He received a bachelor of science degree in business and social studies from Manchester<br />

College and a master’s degree and doctorate from Indiana Univer-sity. He was a member of Phi<br />

Beta Kappa, was an officer and member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Delta Pi Epsilon professional<br />

fraternities. He was listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest<br />

and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry.<br />

Surviving with his wife, at home, are one daughter, Valerie E. SHAW BROWN and<br />

husband Henry and two grandsons, Christopher E. and Jonathon E. BROWN, all of Portland, Ore.<br />

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington, Ky., with<br />

Rev. Valerie JOHNSON officiating. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,<br />

memorials may be made to Manchester College, 604 E. College St., North Manchester, IN 46962,<br />

or St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2351 Alumni Dr., Lexington, KY 40517-4102.<br />

Wilbur V. Hunt<br />

Nov. 13, 1910 – Dec. 24, 2001<br />

Wilbur Vyvyan HUNT, 91, formerly of Peru and Denver, died Dec. 24 at his South Bend<br />

residence.<br />

Born in Acton, Mass. to Roy Wilbur and Lillian FOOKES HUNT, he married Elizabeth<br />

KNOWLES in 1939. He married Janet ROGER REINEKE, Peru. She died in 1996. Elizabeth died<br />

in 1995.<br />

Mr. Hunt was an inventor, artist, writer and businessman. He attended Massachusetts<br />

Institute of Technology. He invented Poultrocutor, a device to aid farmers to kill chickens and<br />

remove their feathers. He worked on a Terrameter, an early global location instrument. He was a<br />

sculptor of marble, clay and stone and a sketch artist and portrait painter. He worked on a<br />

statement of his personal faith, “...As it is in Heaven,” for over 30 years.<br />

Mr. Hunt came to Peru in 1959 as manager of the American Stationary Co. He retired,<br />

moving to Denver, where he and his wife Janet owned and operated Denver Hardware Store. He<br />

built Vyvyan Castle, Denver, over 15 years.<br />

Survivors include four children, Diana BORSE, Texas, Marcia NILSSON, California,<br />

Terry FONSECA, Georgia, Craig HUNT, Vermont; four stepchildren, Becky VENICE, Oregon,<br />

Jan Richard REINEKE, South Bend, Nancy TUBERTY, Tennessee, Peggy BLAUVELT, South<br />

Bend; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.<br />

Preceding in death with his wife was a stepgranddaughter, Sheila TUBERTY.<br />

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McClain<br />

Funeral Home, Denver. Memor-ials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
