Mack E. Hershberger

Mack E. HERSHBERGER, 73, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday in his Bourbon home.
Born in Bourbon to Charles and Alma STEINMAN HERSHBERGER, he married Martha
CLAUSS Nov. 8, 1952. She survives.
Mr. Hershberger, a life-long Bourbon resident who wintered in Avon Park, Fla., retired
from Bendix Corp., South Bend, in 1983 after 35 years and farmed for more than 25 years. He was
a member of the Country Church, Bourbon, and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1947. He
enjoyed fishing, hunting and his woodshop.
Mr. Hershberger earned a Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War.
Surviving with his wife are son Richard and wife Kathleen HERSHBERGER, Rochester;
sisters Kathryn TEEL, Mentone, and Frances WILLIAMS, Rochester.
Preceding in death was sister Eleanor HOOVER.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Country Church, Bourbon. Burial will follow
at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour before services
Saturday at the Church.
Memorials may be made to the Country Church, a hospice or to a charity of one’s choice.
Deaton Funeral Home, Bourbon, is handling arrangements.
David E. Smith
David E. SMITH, 49, 13364 E. Fulton County Road 225 South, Akron, died today at
Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at Foster & Good Funeral
Home, Akron.

David Edward SMITH, 49, Akron, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday at Parkview Memorial
Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born in Indianapolis to George E. and Helia GREEN SMITH, he came to the Akron
community in 1987 from the North Manchester and Peru areas.
Mr. Smith was a core machine operator for the Warsaw Foundry and a member of the
National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include mother Helia M. and husband Frank WHYBREW, Peru; daughter
Holli D. SMITH and grandson Hayden R. SMITH, at home; sisters Mary and husband Mike
KELLEY, Gillette, Wyo., and Nancy SMITH, Indianapolis; nephew Sean KELLEY, Gillette,
Wyo.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at the Foster and Good Funeral Home, Akron. Friends
may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Everest Memorial Gardens, Logansport.
