WHITTENBERGER April 2, 1949. He died June 22, 1987.<br />

Mrs. Whittenberger was a 20-year employee of Rochester Telephone Co. and worked at<br />

Peru Telephone Co.<br />

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia CARROLL, Ventura, Calif., Marty<br />

ANDERSON, Whitehall, Mont.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Eileen<br />

McGUIRK and husband Francis, Clearwater, Fla.<br />

Preceding in death with her husband were one daughter, two grandchildren and two<br />

sisters.<br />

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Joseph<br />

JACOB officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Zimmerman Bros.<br />

Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.<br />

Bette R. McAuliffe<br />

Bette R. McAULIFFE, 76, Macy, died at 3:40 a.m. Friday at Dukes Continuing Care<br />

Center, Peru.<br />

Born in Gilead to Adam and Lucy BARNES DAINE, she married Leland “Mike”<br />

McAULIFFE. He died July 29, 1997.<br />

Mrs. McAuliffe, a homemaker, attended Olive Branch Church of God.<br />

Survivors include one son, Steven [McAULIFFE] and wife Sara, Macy; one daughter,<br />

Patricia LONS and husband Russel, Hesperian, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;<br />

one brother, Cluster “Bob” DAINE, Roseland.<br />

No services or visitation are planned. Burial will be at Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may<br />

be made to Olive Branch Church of God. Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, is in charge of<br />

arrangements.<br />

Caleb N. Hucks<br />

Jan. 24, 1973 – Jan. 4, <strong>2002</strong><br />

Caleb N. HUCKS, 28, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday at his Lafayette residence.<br />

Born in Rochester to Vernon D. and Carol BOWEN HUCKS, Jr., he attended Tippecanoe<br />

Valley High School and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1991. He attended Ball State<br />

University for two years.<br />

Mr. Hucks was a tool and production worker at Caterpillar, Inc., Lafayette.<br />

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Carol and George GRAHAM, Akron; father,<br />

Vernon D. HUCKS, Jr., Carlisle; stepmother, Janice McCABE, Evansville; maternal grandmother,<br />

Gloria BOWEN, Akron; paternal grandmother, Inez HUCKS, Goose Creek, S.C.; maternal<br />

stepgrandmother, Esther SHAFFER, Tolono, Ill.; paternal stepgrandparents, Ed and Joan<br />

STEVENS, Kokomo; four sisters, Robin HECKMAN and husband Ed, Akron, Jessica DUBOIS<br />

and husband Jeff, Indianapolis, Charity GRAHAM, Goshen, Sarah LONG, Evansville; three<br />

brothers, Uriah GRAHAM, Tippecanoe, Matt LONG, Lafayette, Evan HUCKS, Evans-ville; two<br />

nephews and one niece.<br />

Preceding in death were his grandfathers, Paul BOWEN and Vernon D. HUCKS, Sr.<br />

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Billy<br />

GRAHAM officiating. Burial will be at Omega Cemetery, Akron. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m.<br />

today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Omega Cemetery.
