Mothers Club, and received the Service Award from Culver Military Academy in 1969.<br />

Dr. Parker and her husband helped obtain accreditation for Logansport Memorial<br />

Hospital and helped establish the intensive care unit. She traveled for international medical<br />

exchange programs. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, world travel and spending time in Culver.<br />

Survivors include five children, Paul W. KILLIAN and wife Joelle, Washington, D.C.,<br />

Clyde B. KILLIAN and wife Sharon, Greenwood, Francis W. PARKER III and wife Peggy, Van<br />

Nuys, Calif., Patricia A. STRICKLAND and husband Ted, San Leanardo, Calif., and David John<br />

PARKER and wife Lori, Logansport; eight grandchildren, Michael, Alanna, Paul D., Philip and<br />

Eleanor KILLIAN, Lauren and Allison PARKER and Parker STRICKLAND; close friend and coworker,<br />

Carol PURSCH.<br />

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church, 430 Ninth St.,<br />

Logansport, with Rev. Douglas MANKELL officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery,<br />

Logansport. Friends may call from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home, 711 E. Market<br />

St., Logansport, and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made for<br />

“Talking Books for the Blind, to the Robert Kraft Fund, in care of Indiana State <strong>Library</strong> for the<br />

Blind, 140 N. Senate Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204, or to the Cass <strong>County</strong> Family Y, 905 E.<br />

Broadway, Logansport, IN 46947.<br />

Mary “Jean” SWARTZ, 77, North Manchester, formerly of Akron, died at 4:28 a.m.<br />

today at Kindred Hospital, Indianapolis. Arrangements are pending at Hartzler Funeral Home,<br />

Akron.<br />

Helen E. POOR, 95, Plymouth, formerly of Argos, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim<br />

Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.<br />

Born near Plymouth to Charles Edward and Hannah HILL KANARR, she married Floyd<br />

E. POOR April 6, 1927 in Plymouth. He died July 20, 1984.<br />

Mrs. Poor, a homemaker, came to Argos in 1975 from Cook Lake, and later returned to<br />

Plymouth. She was a member of North Salem Church of God, Plymouth, and enjoyed gardening,<br />

bird watching and euchre.<br />

Survivors include six grandchildren, Suzie DeLONG and husband Terry, Pam<br />

HOEFNER, Nancy WHITE, Billy SEARS, Jim SEARS, all of Anderson, and Doug JONES and<br />

wife Lorraine, Noblesville; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister,<br />

Ida Mae LOGAN, North Manchester; one son-in-law, Robert JONES, Noblesville; several nieces<br />

and nephews.<br />

Preceding in death with her husband were her parents, twin daughters, Mary SEARS on<br />

Sept. 17, 1986, and Betty JONES on Aug. 5, 2000, two sisters, Ruby HILBERG and Fern<br />

HOLDREAD, and one brother, Ray KNARR.<br />

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, with Rev. Larry<br />

STUTZMAN officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Friends may call from<br />

noon Friday until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to North Salem<br />

Church of God, Plymouth.
