Después de todo, ¿quién me obliga a continuar metido <strong>en</strong> este sumidero?<br />
Pablo me dirige una mirada ceñuda: “¿No sería más s<strong>en</strong>sato hacer una<br />
profunda investigación sobre la asamblea de Scalabrini Ortiz y Santa Fe?”.<br />
Imposible, le digo, sólo sé chapurrar un par de palabras <strong>en</strong> inglés. “¿Y<br />
qué mierda ti<strong>en</strong>e que ver el inglés?”. Le muestro un fragm<strong>en</strong>to de la<br />
Carta Abierta que los vecinos bilingües de esa asamblea remitieron al<br />
FMI:<br />

From the S.Ortiz and S.Fe Assembly -Palermo District, Bu<strong>en</strong>os Aires City,<br />
Arg<strong>en</strong>tina- in def<strong>en</strong>se of the Arg<strong>en</strong>tine Constitution, foundational law that<br />
our governm<strong>en</strong>t seems not to know, we found ourselves with the right an<br />
duty of assuming the spirit and form of that foundational law before You,<br />
always concerned about the legal security and the accomplishm<strong>en</strong>t of<br />
legal settlem<strong>en</strong>ts.<br />
We state:<br />
1 - The illegitimacy of the Arg<strong>en</strong>tine external debt is worldwide known<br />
since that debt was initially accrued by a de facto governm<strong>en</strong>t<br />
(unconstitutional) and thus their acts were illegal, null and void.<br />
2 - Arg<strong>en</strong>tine law 224 of September 29th, 1859 establishes "The<br />
Arg<strong>en</strong>tine Confederation since establishing a constitutional governm<strong>en</strong>t<br />
does not recognize the right to comp<strong>en</strong>sations in favor of nationals or<br />
foreigners except for damages caused by the country's legitimate<br />
authorities".<br />
3 - Arg<strong>en</strong>tine law 73 of November 6th,1863 establishes that the national<br />
authority "will liquidate the legitimate contracted debt by the governm<strong>en</strong>t<br />
of the Arg<strong>en</strong>tine Confederation. The damages or injuries caused by a not<br />
legally constituted authority will not be comprised in the liquidation and<br />
ev<strong>en</strong> if legally constituted if those came from illegal acts" and "Those in<br />
whose contract was fraud, inept cause, great injury or any other vice".<br />
Luego de dos horas de travesía por el traicionero camino de tierra,<br />
soltamos un grito de alegría. Por fin una ruta, asfalto, y el primer indicio<br />
de vida: un g<strong>en</strong>darme de rostro legañoso que sale a nuestro <strong>en</strong>cu<strong>en</strong>tro.<br />
Docum<strong>en</strong>tos; de dónde v<strong>en</strong>imos y hacia dónde nos dirigimos; con pereza<br />
echa un vistazo al interior del auto y acto seguido, sin pronunciar palabra,<br />
al caer <strong>en</strong> la cu<strong>en</strong>ta de que le será imposible arrancarnos un mísero<br />
c<strong>en</strong>tavo, con el brazo estirado nos invita a continuar el viaje. Pero el<br />
cont<strong>en</strong>to se difumina <strong>en</strong> segundos; es una ruta repleta de cráteres tan<br />
grandes y hondos como los que debimos eludir <strong>en</strong> el trayecto anterior.<br />
